Anyone had any luck with the tongue wiping thing?
I know we had discussed how someone had suggested using pee to wipe stain off babys tongue.
I've been using a q tip and a baking soda/water mixture that the ped recommended but I hate doing it and I'm sure Levi hates me doing it too.
It looks like it's gagging him or tickling his tongue.

How often are you supposed to do this?
I'm so worried he's gonna get thrush from the stain if I leave it be...

Our doctor didn't say anything about doing this... so I haven't!

I dont think the milk on the tongue alone will cause thrush. I've never heard of wiping the tongue.

I personally don't see any need to wipe my DS's tongue. Breast milk is completely natural, and it's what his body is designed to eat. It just doesn't make any sense to me that breast milk residue in his mouth would be so dangerous as to lead to infections. If that were the case, the human race would have died out long ago. Honestly, I think the wiping is MORE likely to cause infection than not wiping, because it likely causes small scrapes where bacteria can enter. And I would worry about causing DS to have an oral aversion from all the gagging and tongue scraping.

i agree with all the above. i have had thrush twice now, (2 diff kiddos), and i do not think this would cause it. just leave it alone.

Never wiped the tongues of any of my three kids and (knock on wood) have never had a case of thrush in our household!

I have never had to do this I BF all of my kids and have never goten thrush and they have all had the "stained" toungs
