Home Visit? - Page 2

They do a homevisit here at 37 weeks. Mine all work out of a birth center as well.

I would be worried that they're not at least making sure that they can find your house. And I also think it's important for them to be at least slightly familiar with the layout. I don't want my midwife having to hunt for drinking glasses or bendy straws for 10 minutes while I'm laboring!

my mw does home visits. 1. so she doesn't get lost on the way to the birth 2. to get to know the client better 3. to talk with the client about and see which room they would plan to birth in

I was actually surprised when she mentioned scheduling a home visit in july. I used her with dd so I assumed she wouldn't care to do one (though I'm happy she mentioned it!)

Mine does a 36 week home visit to make sure she knows how to get to our house, to check our birth supplies, and to get a "lay of the land" that she will be working in. She also comes back 1-2 times after the birth to do a post-baby check up.
I will agree with the others - after our home visit (which was just last week) I feel so much closer to her and ready to have our baby here at home with her. I mean I felt confident and comfortable before, but so much more so now.
