Which bed is more toxic?

Hi,
I am trying to replace my old mattress with natural ones. I need to get rid of one of the mattresses. Which do you think is more toxic?
One is 40 yr old, given by my mother in law - it's made of foam.
The other is 3 yr old cotton futon mattress with foams in the middle. It is new enough it has fire retardant, I can guess.

Id go with the older one- any chance you can get a topper to go over it? Futons usually have formadehyde in the cotton, and the foam cores are synthetic.
