Need some help here!

During a recent Memorial Day Family Reunion my cousin revealed that she had given her 8 month old the first round of MMR (there was an outbreak and fear makes decisions sometimes) I was slightly concerned about it as my 7 month old was passing toys back and forth. I had made a couple statments to my mom about it and that was that..

Fast forward 1 week. my daughter developed a cough and weird exzcema like spots all over her back, I put it off as a cold/cough/runny nose that was caught at the cabin for the weekend or maybe an allergy to carrots that we just introduced. No fever, still a happy baby.

I just got off the phone with my cousin who took her DD in to the ped for a "weird rash" they are saying its a "reaction to the vaccine but don't worry"

The girls have the exact same symptoms (except I never noticed the fever) cough is the same, the conjunctivitis, the rash is the same except cousins DD is more severe. Is she having a reaction to her vaccine and my DD is experienceing a reaction to the shedding as these are the symptoms of measles Or did they catch something?

I am not trying to load my DD for an unneeded trip to the doc. She is doing well, the cough is going away and the spots are not as rough. What should I do? I am so nervous about it for some reason...

TIA

Measles starts with a fever. And yes, the other baby is having a fairly common reaction to the MMR. Personally I wouldn't worry. Are you bfing?

Also she could have picked something up at the doc's office and then it got passed to your dd. If your dd is eating and acting normal I really wouldn't sweat it at all. Measles is not as scary as docs would have us believe. In fact, when they first licensed the vax they had a hard time getting parents to do it, much like the chicken pox vax of this era, they couldn't understand what the big deal was. Then the CDC told them that if every child was vaxed that measles would be eradicated in ONE year Of course that was....oh...about 50 yrs ago now...that's not quite working out so well for them now is it?

Oh and I wouldn't do anything. Just nurse. If the rash seems to bother her you could put some breast milk on it.
