Waterproof cover for futon?

I just ordered a futon from Northern Naturals, I'm super excited.
I'm going to want to totally encase it though - something waterproof because DS is still in diapers and he leaks every now and then (not to mention rogue sippy cup spills).

I found some "hypoallergenic" ones at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond but I'm just not sure about them. I don't *have* to have organic at the moment, because I know I won't be able to afford it (I've been shopping around online...). But I definately want something that isn't going to offgas anything, otherwise, what's the point in the natural futon, kwim? I know to stay away from vinyl, but what about something like this? Or this? (The second one says asthma friendly, so that's good, right?)

OR, I like this idea too but not sure it would work because I also want to encase it to keep the dust mites out of the actual futon... I could use a futon cover like this and just put a felted wool blanket or something between the cover and the sheet.

WDYT?
