So I moved onto the Evenflo Triumph which gets just as good ratings from CR. But then I started getting overwhelmed on Amazon b/c of the DLX or LX or whatever - can't tell the difference between them. I felt like my eyes were bleeding.
I know that most people do buckets and we have in the past but I just don't feel the need for one. We hardly took it out last time w/#3 - I slung her most of the time and w/dd1's wheelchair, I'm not going to be doing a stroller or carrying a bucket around. I know I'll have to roll up blankets and get extra padding for a convertible carseat for the first bit but I'm fine with that.
I am gravitating to the Triumph b/c 1) I have one for dd2 and like it just fine 2) it gets good ratings. What do you think?

I have never had a problem with my Britax and cloth in the crotch, and I've always used prefolds.
That said, I think the Evenflo Triumph Advance (not the regular triumph - I assume this is what you were talking about?) is better for a newborn since the strap height is much lower than on a Britax. I agree that buckets are mostly a pain, and I always leave it in the car as well, but it is important that the strap height is low enough for a tiny baby. Do you normally have big babies? If so, I don't see an issue at all, especially with the ETA. It has infinite strap adjustment which I think is fantastic.
The only difference between the LX and DLX is the cover. However, the most expensive, the Premier, that runs about $180 has rigid or alligator LATCH like the Britax seats do. To me, it is totally worth it. If I was going to get a convertible seat for a newborn, I would get the ETA Premier. HTH.
