One of the 7 LLL Founding Mothers

has passed away early this morning. She was one of the trailblazers who did what almost *nobody* would dare back in the 50's. She had her babies at home and breastfed them all.

Here's a link to the news.

I got the e-mail this morning. How sad for her family, but she lived a wonderful life and helped so many mothers and babies.

I was coming to post about her passing also. She was a truly amazing woman, passionate about breastfeeding and babies til the end. I made a donation to LLL in her memory and would like to challenge the rest of you to do so also. It would be a fabulous tribute to her life if her passing caused an influx of funds for LLL, which seems to have struggled financially for a while now.
So, if you can afford to, please make a donation in honor of this woman who likely impacted all of our lives, whether we met her or not.

So many mothers and babies owe her thanks for helping us to breastfeed successfully.

I'm so glad she lived the life that she did.

The Froehlich family is planning a celebration of the life of their mother and LLL Founder Edwina Froehlich. This celebration will probably be held the afternoon of Saturday, July 12 in the Chicago, Illinois, USA suburbs. The family has no idea how many friends from the LLLI community would plan to attend such an event and we have offered to help by trying to get an idea for them so they can pick an appropriate place.

If you would probably come to Edwina's celebration, please email me directly at tnoack@llli.org as soon as possible. If you are from a Group or Area and can respond for a number of people, that would be fine and easier to count. This does not have to be a definite commitment to attend, the family just does not know whether to plan for 100 or 500 at the celebration.

Many thanks,
Trisha Noack
PR Director LLLI
