Baby Pants from old sweaters

Does anyone have a pattern for making baby pants from old sweaters? I know that a pattern exists, but I can't seem to find it!

I was also thinking of trying to make leg warmers from the arms of sweaters, but I don't know how to make the cut edge (from the sweater arm) hug the top of the leg. Any suggestions?

I've got some nice sweaters that don't fit or are just out of fashion, and I thought this would be a good way of re-using them.

Thanks for your help!

You could do this with a sweater instead of a tshirt.
