mercury in fillings?

So, I just got my first 3 fillings a few months ago (I'm 23). And then soon thereafter found out about how bad amalgam fillings are with the mercury and everything!!! GR! My fillings are all silver so I'm guessing thats what they are. Now what do I do?!? Has anyone here had amalgam fillings removed and replaced with an alternative? Can you tell me how the process goes? And if anyone knows of any dentists that use BPA and mercury free fillings located in the fox valley area of Wisconsin, please let me know!
Thanks
oh, btw I have multiple sclerosis (i've heard of this linked to amalgam fillings?) not sure that matters!

If you've only had them a few months, things are not horrifically bad. Try to find a dentist who follows the IAOMT protocol for amalgam removal (read more at iaomt.org) and know that even with a good protocol, you'll still get extra mercury into your body. But, although everyone is different, it took me 20 years of having amalgam fillings in my mouth for my health to be dramatically affected.

The process itself is pretty straightforward--choose a dentist, talk about materials (I wasn't as picky as some, my biggest need really was to get the mercury out and then start fixing the problems it caused), and then do it. Depending on where the fillings are in your mouth, it may take several visits (they don't like to numb top and bottom, left and right, all at once). But the replacement went pretty quick--the long part was waiting for the anesthetic to fully kick in.

On a practical note--there can be a HUGE range in prices for mercury-free dentists, so you should really shop around (I'd do this by phone, ask about what material(s) they use and what it costs). Mine were $180/tooth (basic fillings, nothing fancy) and they needed recent x-rays (so if you can just transfer over some from your current dentist, you should be fine there).
