Any Fremont moms? - Page 3

Hello my fellow Fremonters.

We are starting to think about growing some food in our backyard and I'm trying to find out as much about it as I can (the HMN meeting was great!). My big question at this point is: uhm, how is the soil in Fremont? I mean, we do live on a landfill... is there icki stuff in the soil I should try to avoid?

I'm kind of paranoid.

this is nuts, i grew up in fremont too! maloney, glenmoor, centerville an washington high. co '95. we're currently in nevada but if i ever come back to visit i'll post!

my mom still lives there, over in irvington, farmer's market is great. as for teh soil, i've found it to be really nice. at least compared to maui and nevada it was nice. make sure you use lots of organic material to ammend it, make compost!

Hi,
Just wanted to bump this up. We are in Foster City right now, but lived in Fremont and I have my Chiropractic practice there. I miss living there and am trying to convince Dh to move back. Would love to meet up with some mamas.
Thanks
Shahnaz

I'm not sure if I am late to the game or if I'm on the early side but I'll share this anyway.

I just (ok, a few weeks ago) a CSA (www.fullbellyfarm.com) that delivers to Fremont and a co-op for raw milk (www.organicpastures.com). I'm pretty happy with both so I thought I would let the other mamas around here know in case anyone was interested.

Oh! And we should do another meet up.

Welcome! We've only had one meet up so far but doing more would be a good thing. How old are you kidlets?

Is the milk co-op the one Angel runs? I keep meaning to join, but I haven't yet. thanks for the reminder.

yes, let's meet up. the rain isn't helping (although I know we NEED it)...

ETA: Krissy, I forgot to mention, Regan Nursery is hosting a Soil/Compost/Mulch class on the 28th. I've got it on my calendar. This saturday's class looks kind of fun, too.

Yes, the one Angel runs.

Thanks! That class looks neat.

because we've slipped to page 5! Anything exciting going on?

Krissy, I finally joined the OP co-op and picked up my first order this morning. So nice to not have to drive a long way and pay even more for dairy products.

Is anyone going to the New Living Expo next weekend in the City? I've never been and it looks kind of cool.

Yeah, let's meet up again! Krissy, I also signed up for Full Belly and love it so far. The asparagus and almonds were awesome this week.

I also picked up a half gallon of OP raw milk at Whole Foods last week and it tastes SO MUCH better than the hay-fed Claravale stuff. Way better. So, I am thinking that I will join the co-op. Do I just call the number listed on the OP website? How much do you get a week?

I also joined Azure Standard's Campbell Drop. They have pretty much the Whole Foods inventory via catalog and you order once a month. They drop your order at a location in Campbell or Mountain View and you pick it up there. Great prices and nice selection of products.

We are heading up to Oakland Zoo Friday Morning -- anyone want to come? Some of the Holistic Mom's Network Gals and their kids are meeting us there and you are all welcome to join us. Let me know and we'll meet you.

I don't check this tribe enough. I couldn't go to the zoo because I had other plans. I seem to often be already booked when HMN schedules stuff but it's the only thing I have scheduled all week. It sounds like the zoo was a zoo anyway.

OP only has delivery once a month and you freeze the milk for the whole month. This month the milk tastes kind of off to me and I am not sure what is up. This is slightly annoying because I ordered six gallons of it and the stuff is as expensive as liquid gold so I'm drinking it even though I don't like the taste very much. You just call the number and Angel will get back to you. I'm glad you are enjoying Full Belly! I think it's great. I'm doing much better about eating my veggies this way.

Outing! What should we do? Lake Elizabeth is my default in-town place to go hang out but a hike would probably be even better.

Just thought I'd let you all know that the Bay Area Attachment Parenting Meetup Group is getting together at Lake Elizabeth on the 27th at 10am. Feel free to join us (and the Meetup group itself!) We're meeting at the blue play structure.

Hi Everyone!

In case you didn't know, Perry's (the farm produce stand at the Ardenwood entrance) opened today for the season. :

I believe their hours are 9-7 daily.
