Well since the movie industry is not making a whole lot of money from ticket sales at the box office they will take any ads these days I guess.

You know what's weird is I didn't even see the irony in the movie/ad combo until you mentioned it!!
The commercial about Polio was really an ad for Rotary, not the vaccine, but it mentioned the vaccine "saving millions of children in third world countries from debilitating paralysis" thanks to efforts from the Rotary while showing a young (presumably) African girl dancing a traditional dance. I found the whole commercial just kind of weird...not really informational about the vaccine or Rotary.
The commercial for Gardasil, though, was another of those "one less" type...showing a handful of teenage girls talking about how they made the decision (with the help of their dr, of course) to "protect themselves" against "4 strains of HPV that may cause cervical cancer". It did have several small print notes at the bottom about effectiveness and the narrator did list the many side effects possible.
It's brilliant that companies are putting commercials before movies now, from a marketing perspective. Won't convince me, though.
