The Midnighters' DDC

...ok so it's not quite midnight here but I've been up for hours trying to find a comfortable position to sleep, despite the heat, the lower tummy pain and the funky noise the plastic sheet we put underneath the topsheet (in case my water breaks in bed) makes whenever you move around. This is night #3 being up, uncomfortable, and unable to sleep. For me that's a record. Usually, after 2 sleepless nights, my body shuts down and I either pass out or get very sick. So far so good though; perhaps I've developed an immunity to sleeplessness--which will come in handy when baby makes me appearance!

So I thought I'd start a midnighter's club, for all those uncomfortable, sweaty and very pregnant mamas who are up at all hours of the night and feel lonely.

I can't wake up DH because he has to work tomorrow morning and he really needs his sleep.

What do you do when you're up like this? Do you get up and eat something? Do you wake someone up to keep you company? Do you watch tv, read, surf online, stand on your head...or just struggle to get back to sleep?

I'm up... sewing diapers, reading about "my girls" and generally wishing labor to happen. I am soooooo pathetic on that front.

You know, why don't you put a bath towel under you to sleep on (you know, laying sideways across vs. long-ways), even if your water broke, it would catch it and it doesn't sound crunchy or anything and is MUCH more comfortable to sleep on. I did the plastic one you're talking about (the first baby) and never have since. It was that fun.

I'm not hot OR sweaty, in fact I'm wearing jeans and a long sleeved shirt - that's what I get for living in the Pacific NW where it doesn't make up it's weather-mind this year for some reason. It's not even supposed to be 70+ until Friday... but at least school is done that day for my son. Can I scream hallelujah??

Hope you can get some sleep!!

Popping in from july - it's only 10:45 here so it doesn't quite count for me yet, but I've been up a lot at night now. Mostly I surf mothering : ) There's always something interesting on here...

After 2am here. I just finished cutting out material for a mei tai. I really should try to sleep - I have two little ones who will be wide-eyed awake early.

I have my 39w appointment with my midwife tomorrow, so we'll see if anything has moved along. Wouldn't it be great if it were contractions keeping us up?

Up here, too. I have a chiro appt later in the morning, though...and a busy day with the kids while DH is at work until late. I need to get some sleep! I cat-napped for a couple of hours, but quality or extended sleep has been unheard of for awhile now. Bleh.

4:30am here.
I'm having a meltdown about this kid (i.e. watching my plans of a homebirth go up in flames as I'll risk out of my midwife's care next week) and couldn't get back to sleep after my 4.5yo woke up whining to pee at 3/3:30am. So I'm typing it out to vent and hopefully get it out of my head for now so I can attempt to get back to sleep since hubby still has to go to work in a few hours.

So here I sit, crunching on crushed ice, checking my usual online haunts while I hopefully calm down a little.
