What was he thinking?!?!

Sophie usually has a fussy period in the late evening. Starts around 9 or 10 PM, lasts til about midnight. She fusses off and on, needs to be held, can't be put down when she's asleep, etc. It's not terrible, but it's not conducive to me sleeping, and I've been trying to go to bed early to make up for the sleep I'm losing during the night.

So, dh or mil has been handling her during this time period so I can get to bed. It has worked out fine, because it didn't seem to matter who was holding her, she was still fussy.

Last night she was fussing and couldn't be soothed, so dh brought her to me around 10:30 to see if she wanted to nurse. She did not, and got mad when my letdown came. I held her and let her suck on my pinky and that settled her down. So I handed her off to dh assuming he or mil would do the same and she would be okay. Well, mil won't give the pinky because she's afraid of scratching her , but I figured dh could do it. Well, whatever ended up happening, Sophie would not be soothed. Apparently dh thought I didn't want to be disturbed unless she needed to be nursed (although I never said that), so he just told mil to take Sophie in the basement so her crying wouldn't bother anyone . So mil held her while she cried for over an hour. Finally, mil decided it had been long enough and maybe she was hungry so she brought her to me.

I just don't know how he heard "she's not hungry and is happy sucking on my finger" and somehow turned it into, "and don't you dare bring her back until she's hungry." Needless to say, I had talks with both dh and mil today. I just feel so bad that my poor baby had to go through that .

Hugs mama.I'm sorry that happened. I don't' think it was about anything but probably two misguided people doing what they thought was a nice thing and trying to give you a break. I have been through similar, and felt bad about baby, too, but then I realized that it came of love and good intentions, and baby spending time with other once in awhile when upset isn't going ot hurt them. I know if hurts to think about your sweet baby baby crying for you, but she knows you love her and would do anything for her no matter what, and she knows she has lots of people trying to take care of her.

I know, I feel the same way. It wasn't malicious, just misunderstandings about stuff. I just feel bad when I think about my sweet girl crying for me .

Aw Shana, I'm so sorry. Reminds me of the time Dave gave Isabella 2 ounces of formula while I was gone. I was LIVID. I had left him with breast milk and instructions to call and he got into the sample packs of formula instead.

At least she was crying in arms, you know?

Awww, I'm so sorry your little girl had to go thru that too!!! I agree with a previous poster, it wasn't done thru malice, but I can understand how it would upset you all the same!!!
