Mamas who have dealt with head lice...how much do you clean?

I just found nits and one bug on my 8 yo. I picked through the other two kids' hair and thankfully they don't have them. Although my 10 yo has a bad case of dandruff!

Anyway, I am washing everyone's sheets and will wash the towels and combs, brushes, etc and vacuum. At least this is a great incentive to get me to vacuum!

How much else do I really have to do? The kids have a bunch of webkinz but they don't sleep with them and they aren't anywhere near their heads. Should I bag these up anyway?

I generally do the bed linens, any stuffed animals in the bed, the brushes (I just dunk ours in alcohol, which kills live lice, and scrub each bristle clean, since ours are wooden), and any clothes that haven't yet been washed after wearing. That's about it. I've never had problems with re-infestation.

What are you using for the actual lice treatment? We found, after several lice incidents (those little buggers seem to love our long-haired family) that mayonnaise is our best friend (and the louse's dreaded enemy). Can't believe I used to use that OTC Rid/Nix-type stuff on myself. Eww!

My DS has a really light case. I washed his hair with TTO shampoo and added 10 drops of TTO to it. THen I put on some TTO conditioner and combed. I got out one bug. I nit picked yesterday and today and there aren't many nits there. Last time he had TONS, this time, maybe 30 - 50? I am grateful that I seem to have found it in an early stage.

I'm just going to keep combing him now unless I see an increase in nits or more bugs.
