Sewing ONTO PF?

OK, mommas. I was wondering, I loooove the tie dyed prefolds from thristies etc. BUT they are expensive and I don't want to spend all my money on them so I was thinking: Do you think it would work if I bought some flannel or even fleece at the fabric store and just sew it ONTO the prefold, in a square, just as big as the diaper itself is? I know I still have to use covers and that is exactly the reason why I want to do it like that. I found my DS old cheapy dappi nylon pants and I think it would be so cute for him to have a colored diaper underneath since those covers are see-through. I would use the 'flanneldiaper' with a cover and the fleece diaper for going coverless. What's your opinion? Thanks in advance.

I think the only thing to be comepletely sure of is that all of your fabric is preshrunk. And I think I would sew the two seams that run down the prefold too.

How do I preshrink the fabric though?

Your prefolds should have gone through the 6 washes and drys- if you are already using them- you are golden. The fancy fabric should be washed and dried- I would probably go on hot just to be safe!

Oh OK, so all I have to do is wash it? I am using all the prefolds already so they have been through plenty of washes and dry cycles and are nice and fluffy.

Thank you very much.
