Oh Thank God I found this forum!

Greetings from yet another Momma to an horribly itchy scratchy allergic child

My ds, Jonathan has been suffering terribly for the past 14 months with moderate to severe eczema. We only discovered this past January that he is allergic to peanut, wheat, egg and milk (in that order). I knew it had to be something that he was allergic too and had tried elimination diets of all of those individually and nothing resolved. I know why now, since it was everything all together.

This has been one of the most challenging, heart wrenching years of my life!
There have been many tears shed and much frustration on everyone's part. The allergies are a little overwhelming as well to begin with and I really consider myself to be quite well versed now in exactly how many different ways that one can actually say MILK on a label

We still nurse and I am proud to say that I have been off all of that food for the past five months. People seem shocked when I mention it, but really it wasn't a choice at all. It was just something that was par for the course, kwim? I was not about to take the one thing that comforted him away.

My oldest son has eczema without allergies and at that time I thought his was a challenge. Oh how wrong I was

Now that we have been off the bad foods for five months there has been a HUGE difference with his temperament, but he still scratches constantly and now we are entering his bad season (summer) and it is kicking into high gear now. Before I got off the allergens I was not able to put him down for more than a few minutes before he cried

I only have been able to read a few posts so far, but am really looking forward to getting to know all of you better and hopefully learning a great deal.

I agree with what others have said about seeing the many docs with no real help too! I just cannot believe that he has to suffer daily like he does. He has been on Atarax twice daily since Jan and it really does not seem to do alot of good if you ask me. I do give him a very low dose steroid when it gets bad. I try not to give it too often, a few times a month usually. Once it clears it seems to come right back though

I would love to hear what you all have to share.
I do know the usuals regarding bathing, clothing, detergents, heat, moisture etc.

Thanks for listening
