Why does dd flare up when she's getting a virus?

Her eczema is pretty much gone, after lots of gut healing and dietary changes, etc. But whenever she's getting a cold or virus (which is relatively often since this is her first year in pre-school) her skin flares slightly. Nothing at all like what it used to be, but she still gets some dry skin and a very slight rash in a few places. Is it just that her immune system is getting geared up and her insides are not totally healed or what? It's so odd, although I think it is not uncommon.

Also, our new favorite supplement here is Vitamineral Green. It's amazing. It has greenfoods, whole food vitamins/minerals, many strains of probiotics and enzymes. Just thought I'd share.

My dd did this, too, in the beginning. She had several bouts of illness from Christmas through March with no non-food related flare ups, so I think we're over that hurdle.

Yeah, it is definitely getting better. Each time she gets sick the flare is less significant than the time before. I just wonder what is happeneing in there that makes her flare when her immune system is challenged...

Sorry to hijack your thread, but do you think the same could happen while teething??

DD is about to pop out a top tooth, and she has been WAY crabby for a week+ (way more so than when her first 2 teeth came in.) Her eczema has been flaring off and on randomly- it doesn't seem to correspond to what I'm eating (OR, we've developed about 3 new allergies .

I actually do the opposite. Flares up seem to lead to viruses.

Yes. My DD is teething also. She is an extremely symptomatic teether. Teething can cause the immune system to become a bit depressed and allow other things to impact the system. For your DD, that's the eczema. For my DD, she happens to have gotten a minor cold with this current teething.
