Overwhelmed

I'm so tired! I've been trying to launch my business for almost two years!

I've had to deal with people that don't commit to timelines as well as been way over charged for things. Now I'm moving and my dad is having major health problems, kidney cancer, leukemia and such. I have no help with my little guy and I'm BURNT OUT!

How do you mamas manage the day to day stuff. I'm so tired I can't see straight. I'd just like to go and have a hair cut. I'm having balance issues.

Just get through tomorrow, then worry about the world the next day. On bad days I put on a video for DS.

Life can hit you hard at times! Hang in there.

I find that writing my little goals (to-do-list) down on a piece of paper helps me to stay calm and focused.

When I feel like I have been mistreated or overcharged, I get upset at the moment... but I redirect my energy to my to-do-list, and I soon forget/forgive.

When I cross out even one to-do list, I feel like I've accomplished something for the day. So, I feel less stressed.

Hope your dad gets better with his health!

To-do list is VITAL. If I don't write it down, I spend hours at night (every time the toddler wakes up to nurse even) worrying about what I need to get done in the next 10 years. If I break it down by what I need to get done this month, and then which of those things need to get done first, it's so much easier to deal with. I'm also dealing with my dad's health even though he's inbetween a hospital and care center right now, I am the daily decision maker for him...plus 4 homeschooled kids.

Beer helps too. Not a lot, but I like to crack open a hard cranberry lemonade a couple nights a week and get a little buzz going to relax.

about your dad

I'm so sorry about your dad I remember when my kids were young and my grandmother had cancer and Alzheimer's, I think back to that time now and wonder how I ever got through it all. You have a lot on your plate right now so taking a little time out each day to organize things will be key to keeping things running smoothly and finding some time just for you and your child.

Excellent advice Synthia! I too find that if I don't write it down, I wake in a start at 3:00 am worrying. I have a calender program on my computer where I keep all my appointments, bills that are due, kids activities, work deadlines etc. If I don't, I WILL forget! It also has a daily notes section where I keep running lists of things that I MUST do. Whatever doesn't get done, I copy to the next days notes. Before that program I just kept a really good planner and did the same thing - transfered incomplete tasks to the following day or week. I find even if I don't read the notes, the act of writing it down keeps it fresh in my mind.

I do skip the beer and hard lemonaid due to an allergy, but find a cup of green tea mid afternoon gives me the mental push I need to get through.

I am sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed,I have many days like that, when I feel like I just can't do it one more day! Usually that means I need to take a few days off, go do something fun with kids, maybe something in nature away from the cellphone!

I am a master list maker, my big problem is that i have a hard time coordinating my to do list for work issues with my to do list for home, so I end up with this huge franklin covey planner type of thing, and I am way to ADD (and lazy) to use it effectively. by the time i enter all 5 kids stuff and info, my work stuff and info and my home stuff and info, i'm lost.

so i end up with the bad habit of writing lists on random pieces of paper, which is still helpful, just writing it down is helpful, but they are lost!

also, I think breaking down the big projects into smaller ones if helpful, so I do that too.

I hear what your saying! I have ADD too, I read a passage once in the book about women with ADD, I'm not sure exactly how it was phrased, but the gist was "Everyone tells me to get a calendar or planner and write things down. I have 3 and if I could find one of them or remember to write it down, it might work".

I agree, that breaking things down into projects is very helpful.

I'm forgetful like that too. Everyone tells me to write stuff down. Ok, so what do I do when I lose the paper I wrote it down on? I forget things like getting gas...DH says to write a note and put it over the gas gauge, but I'd actually have to be paying attention to the note when I pass a gas station to remember
