What to do with old blue jeans...

So, my "after baby blue jeans" are rather loose (belt area and butt) and I am wondering what I can do with them? It's not worth trying to tighten them up, I would have to remove the band on top or stitch through several layers of jeans fabric... I was wondering, is there an easy way to transform it into a skirt, or anything else? What do you do with blue jeans you no longer wear...

Thanks you!

Here's one idea (and a great blog, BTW).

I made a skirt out of some old jeans. I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere. This is how I did it. (I'm a bit sloppy in my execution so you'll have to tweak if you are not!)

Cut off jeans to desired length. Cut on inseam. Pin and stitch. I left the hem to fray. I hand sewed it with embroidery floss because denim sometimes breaks the machine needle if you aren't careful.

When I was a kid my mom and I made a patchwork floor pillow out of old jeans.

I have made throw pillows, yoga bolsters, pocket books, handbags, quilts, and skirts from old jeans.

The easiest skirt project requires two pair of jeans. For the best look use two different tones. You rip out or cut open the inseam al the way up to the crotch. With the jeans laid out flat trim to the desired skirt length. You will see that there is a triangle that needs to be filled with fabric to make a skirt. Using your second pair of jeans, cut two triangles and sew to first pair. I hope that this makes some sort of sense. I don't have any photos to show you what I'm talking about. For a more labor intensive skirt you can cut the jeans into strips of fabric and then sew the strips up and add a waistband.

I cut up our old jeans into 8 by 8 inch squares then, sew together and make a quilt. You can use pocketed areas and such, add batting and chambray for instance on the ack and you suddenly have a super easy, super cute quilt. I am trying to figure a way to make a diaper bag out of old jeans too.

How about a denim play tool-belt?

Thanks for the help ladies, I think I'll do the skirt (a hardwearing, everyday skirt). I still have some material left (with flowers, I am a GIRL).
