Charlie's Soap

I would like to switch to Charlie's after we finish our current container of regular detergent. I went to the website for some info, and I'm scared to switch! It said something about having to wash diapers, clothes, etc twice the first time around! I could do that with diapers, but I don't want to wash all of my family's clothes twice! Did you have any problems when you switched? Help me not be scared

I think they just mean that it can take a couple washings for the residue from your previous detergent to come out. We switched to Charlie's about a year ago and LOVE it. I wash everything in it, even DH's disgusting muddy dirt bike gear and it always works great. I've probably converted at least 10 friends/family members. My sister and I just bought and split the huge 5 lb bucket. :

i concur that it is probably to get your old detergent out of the clothes. I switched earlier this year, and just do laundry like normal. I never washed anything twice.

That's what I wanted to hear! Do you use the powder or the liquid?
I use the liquid and had no issues when switching. I LOVE this detergent. I didn't wash anything twice but I agree with everyone else on the website saying that to in order to get your old detergent out.

I use the powder and like it very well.

I checked out their website, and have a question. It says with the powder, you only need 1 TBSP per large load. Is that just for front loaders, or can you use that amount with a top-load machine too?

I use the liquid and love it. We've been using it for 3 months now with no problems.

I use the powder and love it. We switched to CS when our now 3 yo was an infant and we were washing his diapers.

I have a top loader and only need 1 T. of powder for a full load. It's awesome!

I can't say enough good things about Charlie's Soap! Someone mentioned it in a thread on here a year ago and I've been sold on it ever since.

Sometimes we even get away with less than a tablespoon in our front loader.

I wish I hadn't bought a new BIG container of Tide the other week Oh, well...gives me something to look forward to!
At least the big container of Tide will be gone sooner than the big container of Charlie's Soap... so you'll be able to use it soon!

How much per load does it cost?
I am on my 2nd 5gal bucket of charlies powder. It took me almost 2yrs to use my first bucket! I have my whole family using it. My mom lives in an old farm house and suspected her wash water drained somewhere near the stream that fed th pond. Last year she had horrible green algae when she switched to charlies with in 2 weeks her algae was gone.

Does it work on really sweaty clothes? Not mine, but dh's.

Another Charlie's Soap fan here... I use the powder in a top loader. I love how clothes just smell clean ! Plus I've never had to use any softeners or dryer sheets if I use the dryer (I mainly line dry).

Thanks!

Thanks, guys. We try. Our new site is trying to launch this evening. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be up and bug free.

If you get the 2.64 lb. bag of powder, around 18 cents a load. For the big bucket of the powder, about 11 cents a load.

For those who have never used it before, I recommend trying the small bag first. We got a small bag and a spray bottle of the all-purpose cleaner and were sold on the stuff.

I've been MUCH happier with Charlie's Soap than I ever was with homemade laundry detergent.
