we are just starting to ttc but have already decided to homebirth when the time comes.
dh loves the tub that was in 'the business of being born' because it was accessible from all sides. so even though we have a big soaking tub, he really wants to rent the birth tub (so the midwife and/or he can 'get to me' at any angle). ok i'm fine with that.

then today he pointed out where he was thinking we would place it. in the middle of the kitchen. in full view of every other room of our downstairs, plus the front door. i just started to laugh and he said, shocked, 'no? really, why not?'. i mean i know in labor modesty won't be my top priority, but i don't need everyone in the house (plus the fed ex guy should he show up) seeing the whole extravaganza!

That's cool that he so excited he is thinking about those types of things. But you are right, you should have it in a comfortable place...and the kitchen just doesn't jive with me whether you can see it from everywhere or not.

I much prefer the living room or bedroom.

why not just put it in the front yard. then you can fill from the garden hose and not worry about spilling or draining :
