I gave her about 1/3 the recommended dosage yest morning and she was really in pain with them all night. they are supposed to be hypoallergenic(ther-biotic infant complex by klaire labs) and I thought they might help her. I feel very responsible for giving her just one more thing that hurts her

These definately ARE hypoallergenic so I highly doubt it is an allergic reaction. I know it's tough but it is very within the realm of possibility to have a rough start with probiotics. I would cut the dose back even more to just a sprinkle for a few days and try to work up from there. Her gut is trying to figure out what the hell is going on and an adjustment period is to be expected. You can even stop all together for a few days then start again with a tiny amount. My DD never had a problem with our regular prob. w/ FOS but when I gave her a full dose of S. Boulardii a few days in a row (a super strong prob.) it literally made her sick with intense gas pains that ended up causing her to vomit a few times too. She was sick for about 24 hours. After that her poop got more normal though. My point is that prob. are really doing some big work inside so this is not abnormal. Just scale it way back and take a few days off and start again if you want. Take is SLOWLY since she is having pain and her body will eventually adjust just fine (and no it won't take weeks and weeks don't worry).

I agree- go really slow when you're starting those. I started DD on about 1/10 of a capsule and slowly increased it from there. But she still only gets about a 1/4 capsule per day.

I agree with the pp's. Just go a little slower. And expect that there will be an adjustment period. Sometimes in healing things will get worse before they get better.
Sorry you have to see your baby in pain.
But remember that you are doing what is best for her and you are a good mama. Plenty of people just get scripts from the doc and never think about it again, meanwhile making a child's problems worse and worse.
The probiotics will not harm her, I promise. From what you are describing, it is most likely that her gut is very unbalanced and this healing measure is going to improve things, but it does take time. The reason she is so uncomfortable is that there is a war going on in her belly: good bacteria against bad. Keep sending in the good bacteria. A little slower, though.
