Update 06/11

Decided to start this thread this a.m. since 2 (!) of our famous "thread starters" are (hopefully) either holding or having babies. ELV to Vanessa and Mandalin...go, go, go!

As for me, 37w2d. Overdid it a bit prepping for and taking pictures - although I cannot wait to see how they turn out! - had fairly strong, regular BH last evening w/ lots of low back pressure when standing. Every time I turned over last night, my legs or abs would cramp, so the name of the game is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate today!

I have cancelled grocery shopping in favour of organizing the birthing space (our room), so DH can inflate the pool to check for leaks, fit, etc. he has also assigned himself the task of groceries tonight after DS1's soccer game.

Slept like crap as usual, and was woken early by two cranky boys to boot. Hopefully the day gets better from here...

How is everyone else doing?

Starting to feel kind of 'bla". Kids are cranky and yesterday I was the worse mom in the world. I got into a screaming match with my 6 and 3 year old before I locked myself in the bathroom for 5 minutes (with them pounding on the door) to cool off. They did chill out after that though, but someone else said it earlier, why would this baby want to come out with that kind of chaos going on. I'm trying not to allow myself time to birth until after Saturday but I don't really have that much to do. I guess I'll clean the house again today and do more laundry that has once again piled up.

Doing great today. That's good... but I wish I had something to report!
I got in the pool last night with DS when we got home from work... as soon as we got in, it started thundering... had to get right back out again. So I felt awful having to get back out (damn gravity!), but didn't get the relief from floating for a while. Nothing much else....
Oh! When I inserted my EPO last night, I could actually feel my cervix! It's usually too high up to feel anything but the very edge of it. That made me happier. It's still up there quite high, but I could feel most of it.

I'm still here - official D-day is tomorrow but my baby hasn't shown any signs of making an appearance. Heading down town with my mom today to poke into stores, eat lunch, and sit at the park with a book. DS is still going to daycare during the day so that we can keep him in a routine. Yesterday I bought DS a pair of sunglasses at one of the stores we stopped into and I said to him when he got home, "James, guess what I brought you..." He answered "baby!"

No change for me from yesterday, not feeling especially good or bad-guess I'm 38 w today. I was actually told by my sister this am that even farmers take their animals
"off grains" before they deliver so their babies arent too big. so am i supposed to quit eating? how insulting. why is there a stigma with big babies?!!! mw appt tomorrow........

38 weeks today...

Its 430am, and I've been up since 2am... I've tried everything to make the ctx stop...birth ball, sitting, walking, shower... still going, I can't seem to time them...anywhere from 3-7 minutes...I'm stopping through them, but they are bareable.

I don't think this is it... but I can't go back to sleep...

I actually slept pretty well last night; I got almost 7 hours and only got up to pee 3 times! Yay! The drop in heat and humidity totally helped.

I think it contributed to my good mood this morning; I actually got my hypnobabies stuff done at 6:15, right after DTD with DH, who got up WAY too early. I'm going to try to make more diapers today, after my beautification session...sometimes a girl needs to do silly things like paint her toenails (which I can barely reach) and give herself an at-home facial.

Not a contraction in sight and very little movement. I asked my mother and she told me she *never* had a single BH contraction before her water broke like a flood in her bed at 39 weeks. Maybe my very chilled out uterus is taking that route? Who knows...

No no this isn't silly at all! My mom and I took a trip to the drug store, bought nail polish, foot lotion, etc as soon as she got into town this past weekend. Don't you know they won't let you into the hospital with ugly feet? I'm happy to say mine are beautiful now (though I'm thankful that SHE did the painting, not me!)

Coming on looking for news of Amanda and Vanessa, but nada. I am up earlier than usual as well. Sitting with my nephew watching TV while everybody else is either asleep or his mom went for coffee. Um.... yeah, never mind.

Not great sleep as my husband was doing a 10pm - 4am shift helping his friend with servers. Which means Orion sleeps practically on top of me. When Ron is there, he has started sleeping next to him. I was used to it as his mother, but in late pregnancy it keeps me awake. He has gotten more and more clingy to whoever is there the bigger I get.

Here hanging on one day at a time. . .soon soon soon
post #12 of 37
i had a good sleep, thanks to the a/c being fixed! yay! i am tired though. 40+1, and suddenly feeling totally content with still being pg
still having lots of contractions all the time, but they're not really painful or slowing me down much. hopefully i'm making a bit more progress. i feel like nothing will happen til my waters break - been wondering if i have a tiny leak, but we'll see.

Halfasianmomma, several of my friends have never had a BH contraction, even with 2nd and 3rd kids. if they feel something, they are really in labor. it happens!

Lea, hang in there! Hope you get some rest.

kltroy, cute story! my kids keep asking when the baby is coming out, because they want to go sleep over at their aunties

butterfly1001, that is great about your cervix. woo hoo for progress!

I think I'm going to be pg the longest with this baby. Seriously. I'm showing zip for labor signs of any sort and I'm past the two birth-dates gestational ages of my youngest two boys... so now I'm rivaling my firstborn in length of pg. I came up with some things I can do today to not go nuts though so I'm going to try them out and see if I can keep my mood ok through the day.

I'm seriously SERIOUSLY trying HARD to keep a good attitude and enjoy the last days and times with this little one where they don't cry, aren't hungry, don't poop, sleep when I sleep (sorta ), etc. but it's sure hard.

I went to my yoga class last night and felt like The Woman. An hour of Ashtanga yoga (and the studio was 70+ degrees) at 38.5w pg is quite a feat for me, I was very proud.

My newborn and small diaper stash is all done - so I'm good with that, good with birth supplies, good with everything else. Now we're all ready for the wee one.

Keepin' the faith (or trying to)...

Thanks Christina... I think its time to wake dh...
maybe I need to sew diapers, maybe thats whats holding me back I have 2 yrds of PUL sitting on my desk waiting for me, but I'm not feeling too motivated to sew...

Today is a good day, I've decided. I need to wake up and tell myself that every morning, that I decide that today is a good day. My BP was also 124/77 WOOT!!!

I'm really excited about getting my birth pool tomorrow! This is what I'm renting, I'd never even heard of it before but the woman who rents it is who my MW works with so I called her, and now I'm all excited about it, look how cool it is!

I'll be 39 weeks tomorrow. I'm feeling pretty good. I had about 3 strong contractions yesterday, but nothing else. I did get up to pee like 5000 times last night, which was annoying.

I did have a little bit of bloody show in the bathroom about 20 minutes ago. I'm not getting my hopes up or anything, but with my daughter bloody show was my first "labor" sign. I got my first contractions about 45 minutes to an hour after I noticed it. So, we'll see how the day goes. It would be fantastic timing as my parents are getting into town today.

39w 4?d

I'm in labor. My midwife even said I'm in labor. All the crap that's been going on since early monday morning? LABOR! I am so fucking pissed right now. This is day 3!!! Contractions are completely real but will space out and then get closer and space out again. I was up every 15-20 with contractions ALL NIGHT LONG. I couldn't lay or sit through them at all. I'm so tired. Midwife thinks she's posterior and that my body is just trying to get her in the best position. If this doesn't end soon I'm going to jump off a freaking bridge!!!!! This has never happened to me. Right now I'm sitting at 10 minutes apart and they are killing my back. Dh tried to go to work this morning but I informed him of the consequences if he left me with satan 1 and 2. Oh, yeah, dd (2yo) decided to hit the terrible two's this last weekend.

I want to die!!!!!!!!

Oh man, Amanda. Hang in there! Pam talked to me about 3rd baby syndrome too. I am so worried I am going to have one of these prolonged things as well. I also never have and am not sure how I will deal with it.... I know you already know the advice for getting the baby to turn, so I will keep my trap shut and just send you good vibes.

I know! I hate this...my babies are big and y'know somehow "sturdier" as newborns, despite still being, um, newborn!

my boys were 8-5 and 10-6 and people look at me w/ horrified expressions all the time when I tell them. i usually say "brace yourself" when i get to the second one, although I have had ppl say that 8-5 is "bigger than average." what?

anyway, was really signing on to check on our mamas in labour or close to it. Hang in there Amanda; sending ELV to you and Lea. By the time Friday rolls around, we'll have 3 babes in arms, I'm sure (incl. N8's Mom's little nugget)!
