The FORMS!!! Oh, my dog. I just filled out 30 (yes, 3-0) pages of forms for my child to attend summer camp. It's modeled after the local school's forms, along with everything site specific - yes, my child can have sunscreen, chapstick, and lotion put on him/available to him. I understand the sunscreen, chapstick, and lotion have to be one of three brands or have a doctor's prescription. Yes, I am aware that many field trips will be walking ones. Yes.....
Combine that with the vaccination chart I submitted (delayed vax, so not all the spaces were filled in due to a)unneeded past a certain age or b) not all doses needed), and the confusion that followed and I was ready for that cuppa tea at home. I'm glad I remembered to bring the CDC/DOHealth delayed vax sheet with highlighted reasons for each vax for the questions from the program manager.




Good grief. And the kicker? The kid who had been so excited to go yesterday decided today, after I returned the forms, that he doesn't want to go this summer.

Wow, thats alot!

When i enrolled my son in middle school last december (his choice, and he thinks he'll skip going next year), there werent that many forms...i gave them our vax exemption, and there was some stuff to sign off on, emergency release and whatnot, but it was simple. My son has been to lots of summer camps (day), daycare, school, saturday programs, never had anything as labor intensive as that!

What kills me is most of it was the same information on each page. It made no sense. But this form has to go here, and this one there.....why not just type it in once on the computer and have it go to multiple e-forms? Less paper waste! Go green, peoples!

I know the ladies running the program and we had a good laugh at my shock. It seems most of the parents have been doing this every year for years and it's all routine. Being out of the system so long has softened me, I think. I like the freedom we have without all this junk!

Wow, I've had my kids in a public and private school and done many camps and never heard of more than four or five pages. Are they insane or just completely paranoid or what? I can't even imagine what information could possibly fill up that many pages.

Yes, and yes, and yes!
One of the questions I asked before signing him up was 'how many adults per group of children?' Thankfully it's always two or more. The one "certified teacher"/camp director was bragging the other day about how she spanks her 3yo with a hairbrush. Sorry, not someone I want alone with my child! Second question was if parents were welcomed on trips/volunteering.

They seem to run things arse backwards. I don't think we'll do this next year.

I can't even imagine what information could possibly fill up that many pages.

Page one - standard info, emergency info, shot records, who allowed to pick up/drop off, permission for field trips.
Page two - standard info, income (what we pay for camp is based on a grading scale), which program he'll be attending,
Page three, standard info, which program, how long
This is where my memory gets a bit fuzzy. More pages with the same as before, plus there were about 6 pages needing signatures next to every rule for camp, another page detailing the weeks and permission slips, another page for the sunscreen/chapstick rule, and signing/initialling for that...

Their butts are definitely covered if he/they do anything!
