Labor

My labor just isn't going anywhere. The contractions are still pretty spaced (8-10 minutes), but intense enough at this point that I'm starting to get vocal through them. I don't know what the hell it all means. I had ds in 16 hours start to finish and dd is 2 1/2 start to finish. This started monday! I'm just so tired! I've never had a labor like this, I've never seen a labor like this. I been trying hands and knees with my bum up and a pillow under my belly and it was helping with the contractions for a while then they stepped up a notch. They are definitely getting stronger and stronger.

I sent dh out with the kids, so I'm alone right now. I think I'm going to go have a good cry in the shower. I PRAY that this time tomorrow I won't be pregnant. I don't know if I can handle another sleepless night! And I pray that this won't be the first time I give up and go to the hospital. I never even imagined having any of my babies in a hospital, but the thought is starting to creep in. And that would be pretty sad considering this is my third.

Someone cross your fingers!

I'm sending good thoughts your way mama I hope it picks up for you! You can do this!!!

Does your MW have any tips for you to help regulate things?

Oh Mama, that's so tough...

Take them getting stronger as a really good sign. Spaced is ok, it doesn't mean they're not doing anything! Do you have any homeopathics at home? Have you tried checking yourself at all to see what you feel?

Stay hydrated and fed and call in emotional support of any kind that you need. Long labor are excruciating and without emotional support, you can quickly become discouraged and then the fight is over and you give up. I've done it, I know how much the wind out of your sails can affect your labor and state of mind.

If you aren't feeling supported by who you have there, bring in "fresh blood" that's rested and able to lend hands to putting counter pressure on your back or hips and give you encouraging words while you take a shower or sit on the birth ball and hum through your contractions.

You're on my mind, I'm sending you prayers and thoughts today...

My fingers are definitely crossed and I think things will work out the way you want, but if you have to go to the hospital, you have to go. I wish you weren't alone right now. Is your midwife coming over soon?

Do you have anyone to come in and bring you some support? It sounds like you could use it right now, mama!

Contractions are still the same, but hands and knees seems to have worked and I can at least lay down during the ctx now. So I got a little rest and I don't feel as panicky about not being able to do this.

I tried to check myself but I can't reach. They are still getting more intesnse and I can feel them deep in my vagina, so I know there are doing there job. Plus the show and mucus is probably a good indicator too I've been visualizing what the ctx's are doing and it's helping with the pain a bit. Or at least concentrating is distracting me from the pain, I can't tell. But it's working.

I tried to eat something but every time a contracion starts when I have something in my mouth I get really nauseous, so I'm nibbling.

My midwife and I are texting back and forth, but I don't feel like I need her yet. As far as getting someone over here, I can't think of anyone that won't annoy the hell out of me. Dh is back with the kids and my 12 yo sister is here. I think we're okay for now.

BTW- it's really hard to type during contractions

Thanks guys!

Thinking of you. Hope you don't have to go through it much longer.

you're such a trooper, Amanda! i'm sending every kind of positive energy I've got (I just need a little for my right hip, 'kay?). You can and will do this just the way you need to. my second was a long "starting" stage, and I remember feeling really discouraged, too. But I did have that baby, and you will, too!

Hope your next post is announcing the LO's arrival...

You can do this!! You are doing this!! Your MW is right, "third baby syndrome" is a total pain... but, it will eventually kick itself into gear.

ITA w/everything that Birthfree said... stay hydrated and stay supported.

Sending you the best wishes that I can! You will be in my thoughts all night.

You can doooooo it! (in my best Rob Schneider voice )

Seriously, I am starting to worry about the same thing. My friend Jess went through something like this, and that is when I learned about the Relaxing Sleep Tonic from Herb Pharm. It helped her to rest even during her prolonged labor.

Also, my labor with Orion was one that never got closer together, only stronger, right up to transition when I got some stacked and then boom I was done. So it may be that way for you.

One contraction at a time mama. We'll be reading your birth story soon.

The contractions are becoming even more intense, again! Seems like the story of my life today! But the timing is really sporadic! They were just 13, 9, 6, 6 & 6. Hopefully that's a good sign.
