Not happy with my allergist now

I really think that Jonathan is allergic to dust and or mold as well as the four foods since the eczema has never totally left and he has never stopped scratching. So I called yesterday to plea our case and request more testing since he was not tested for those two in the test in Jan.
So after lots of going round and round in circles we now have to go back to the NP next week to try to get his eczema under control and they are not willing to do the test right at this time. I cannot tell you what a waste of time I feel this is. He has suffered forever and here we go again putting yet another bandaid on it i/o finding the right triggers and going from there.
Did I mention how I hate seeing NPs too? If any of you are one I apologize. It just seems like I wind up seeing them i/o a doc and if I have to spend all that money in gas to drive two hours round trip I want to see a doc!

how did they test originally to find the 4 foods? Are you sure it's not just another food that you haven't found?
If it's dust and mold, wouldn't an over-the-counter antihistamine bring it under control? I thought that dust and mold allergies were usually inhaled allergies, as in they produced coughing, sneezing, congestion, etc. I haven't heard of it causing eczema. Though nothing would surprise me at this point.
I think it's more likely that it's another food that you haven't been tested for, or that he's getting the food in something that you don't realize that it's in. What are the 4 foods?
How old is he?
Is he still breastfeeding and are those foods out of your diet as well?

Thanks for the ideas
He is almost 16 mos and we do BF. I have been very strict on our diets and the only cheating I do is chocolate (milk). He is allergic to peanut, wheat, egg (both) and milk. He tested neg to corn, soy, cat and dog. We have forced air heat and air and from my understanding it can produce mold and I know there is dust. We are having our ducts cleaned next week and I am nervous about the antibacterial chemical they'll use. I reacted once to one so I am really skiddish with him, kwim? He is on Atarax for antihistamine and it does not work for him. Tried Benadryl too and nada! Oh it was the skin test that was done. I am thinking about the ALCAT now.

I have to agree with Kathy. I don't think dust/mold tends to have any skin impact really. It's mostly breathing, nasal, head stuff. However, I don't want to sound awful here but you can't cheat with chocolate and expect him to be okay! At this point in time you can only consider he has been "dairy free" since the last time you had chocolate and dairy is pretty much the thing that takes the longest to leave the body. Even if he is not intollerant to anything else you are keeping him from healing by eating a dairy product and you just can't do that unfortunately. The good news is that you can get dairy free chocolate though so you don't even have miss it and you can let your LO heal.

I agree with the pps that there is likely another food(s) bothering him. Allergy testing is not 100% accurate, especially in children under 4 or 5 yrs old, so observation is your best bet. I agree about cheating on chocolate. You really have to be strict when it comes to cutting foods because even small amounts mount a histamine response in your lo's body. BTW, many dairy allergic people are also allergic to soy.

You might do an elimination diet for a few weeks (maybe just the other big ones, like corn, soy, shellfish, etc.) and keep a careful record to see if there are improvements.

ETA: these are dairy, soy and corn free http://www.glutenfreemall.com/catalo...umcrv7do93&ID=

I agree- no cheating!

I am allergic to dust & mold, and it definitely affects my skin. Usually it just gives me a stuffy nose, headache, and really itchy skin. The itchy skin is usually my most annoying symptom. When I lived in the Midwest (where my environmental allergies were really bad), I did occasionally get a bit of eczema too. So it is possible.
