Silly question re: intact penis care

So during diaper changes, does any of that explosive EBF poo get in between the penis and the foreskin, or can it not get in there? I know you are not supposed to pull the foreskin back for any reason. I have never changed a baby boy's diaper so I really have no idea what to do! If someone could give me a quick tutorial that would be great

The foreskin is very tightly attached to the tip of the penis around the uretra, so no, it doesn't get in there. The foreskin may bunch up a little, making wrinkles down the length of his penis that you want to keep "poop-free", but it's not much of a problem either.

OK thank you!

Also no one in my family has changed an intact baby boy before, so if they are changing his diapers I need to do a lot of "DO NOT RETRACT" warnings right?

Yes, and "just wipe like you would a finger".

For very messy EBF poops, you might want to sit your babe in a tub and give everything a good swish. If it's any consolation, I always found it much more difficult to clean off the testicles than the penis.

Thanks all!

And I have always heard that cleaning a girl is more difficult than a boy....all the little folds you know.... and I have been diapering my little girl for 18 mos.... so I think we will do OK

Isn't it funny (and sad) that the intact penis is largely a mystery in our culture.

I agree with that too, I found messy EBF poos were WAY harder to clean on my DD than my DS.

My boys never had a problem with EBF poos getting in their foreskin/penis...EBF poos up their back all the way to their necks, through the side of the diaper on to me, my oldest filled the infant swing, and he once did a straight shot to the window where it hit and ran down (during a diaper change)...but his penis was never an issue....I think the scrotum diverts the explosive poo to all other directions!

scrotum - poop catcher.

lol.

I find it rare that the poo gets near the penis and if it does, easy to wipe off.

Yeah, never seen poo get inside, its so closed with just enough opening for urine to come out, I cant see it happening. My intact son was much easier to clean than my girls! And I've changed my friends sons and they are a PAIN to clean, as the poo gets stuck between the remaining foreskin and the glans, along with smegma and stuff (I have yet to see ANY smegma on my intact son and hes EIGHT! lol so much for cleaner eh?)

Anything that might get up into the foreskin opening will be washed out with the next pee as well so it isnt likely to cause problems.

I agree with everyone else getting poo off of the scrotum out of all those tiny little wrinkles was the hard part. The only thing that you need to watch for is redness between the penis and scrotum, since heat gets trapped there alone with moisture it gets red easy. That goes for intact and circed both.

Your intact son will be way easier to clean then your daughter. And yes scrotum = poo catcher lol.

Every now and then a bit of poop would find it's way into the very end opening of DS's foreskin. It would alway just get washed out when he peed.

I found a little spray bottle of water kept on the changing table made clean up much easier and reduced wiping time and roughness.

Those curds just GLUE themselves to the testicles! I feel like I'm just chasing them around with the wipe.

Ah, the joys of boys.
