We were totally out of clothing soap recently, so I grabbed a bottle of Bronners and used a couple of squirts to wash the clothes.
I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW SOFT THE LAUNDRY TURNED OUT!!!!!!
Having not used fabric softener in a decade, so this was a total luxury for me. And a surprise!!!
Is it bad for my clothes and/or skin though? Does soft clothes really just mean "soap build up" on everything? My youngest is out of dipes now (YAY!!!)-- so no concern with build up on cloth diapers. But how about on my clothes? Can I keep washing w/Bronners, or go back to a natural detergent (forget about making my own -- no time. Though soap nuts sound intriguing. What are those? And where do you get them?)
PS>> I always use distilled vinegar in the wash too -- whether using natural detergent or Bronners.

) I don't know about build up, but I didn't have any problems using Kirk's Castille soap in my homemade laundry detergent. Dr. B's is castille, right? It also seems like the vinegar would rinse any residue out....

Just be careful not to use too much or it will take forever to rinse out.
