I am looking for a new (to me) sewing machine and I have my sights set on a Bernina. I would like a used one as I definitely can't afford a brand new one. Tell me which model you have and why you love it!

My mom gave me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it. Gorgeous illustrations and very sweet ideas inside. Plus it's just structured enough so that I can be creative about what I include...

This is the prettiest carrier, and fit my shoulders and figure (at 5'6") much better than the Ergo. I got it when my daughter was about nine months, two years ago - it doesn't appear to have...

This potty is great - excellent value & performance! (plus it's cute!) My 9 month old DS took to it right away. He is a big boy (30 in. tall - feet not quite on floor - & 27 lbs.) and this is...

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

To anyone looking for a carrier, BECO is the brand! I recently had purchased the Gemini, great carrier! It has everything you will ever need and want, its ergonomic, comfy, organic, made...

I've had a 910 for over 15 y which sews as well as the day I bought it used.
Also have a 801 Sport that I got 1 y ago at very good price from my local Bernina store. I also have a 7- series that is very heavy, a workhorse and sews wonderfully according to my local Bernina repairman who tuned it up for me after I bought it OL. I haven't gotten around to sewing with it since I have my other two.
I forgot to add... I love them b/c of smooth buttery sewing, strength in sewing through any material or layers thereof, excellence and simplicity (read logical) design. And that's about all I need in a sewing machine.

Bernina Record 930
I think mine was the first one my grandmother bought and then bequeathed to me a few years back. (manufactured between '78-89) I've had it cleaned once and repaired once because I tried to burn it up sewing a bunch of huge banners. Didn't work, it's fine. Takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
I'm a basic sewer with moderate skill level. I appreciate a workhorse of a machine. I never use the fancy stitches because I prefer design elements in my clothes or projects. It sews smoothly, stops and starts with ease and it's rare I have to crank the wheel to get it started. I like that it doesn't "take off" sewing and tear along when you first press the pedal.
Another nice thing is that the feet are easily removable. There's a little lever and they slip out and in - no trying to find the "special" screwdriver.
I used a cheap little Brother for years and this one is a dream compared to that.
Here is the model on Ebay.

Hope you find one you like.
