Will be in MA for a few days next month and will certainly be bfing my bean! Just wanted to check up on laws .. I'm in NY and I'm hoping MA's laws are similar to here .. seems like one of the few things this state is doing right
Thanks for the reply! I did check LLL but the MA law seems vague at best, nothing specific to protect bfing mamas' rights: "The only legislation in Massachusetts regarding breastfeeding pertains to maternity patients’ right to know the annual percentage of women breast-feeding upon discharge from their admitting hospitals. M.G.L - Chapter 111, Section 70E Patients' and residents' rights (not reproduced here)."
There is a bill pending, but right now, we have no laws. None. Nada. Zip. Zero.
That being said, I BF my 2 y/o everywhere. Wal-Mart, Target, Applebees, Six Flags, BJ's, Sam's...other restaurants, schools, parks, hospitals...you name it, I've nursed there.
And I have never had anyone tell me to cover up or stop.

Yes, this.
I'd say, no need to worry about it. Just be confident. I've been nursing in public for two years in MA and haven't had one bad comment.
We have no law for or against. It's pending.
That said, I've been BFing in public for uh... 20 months now and no one's said anything to me. I may have gotten looks but I haven't noticed them.
I've only ever seen 2 other people NIP here- and one was this week at my DD's field day. No wait... three. One was when I was pregnant.
Where are you visiting?
I asked this same question two years ago when my then 23 month old was nursing and we were going to a wedding there. It seemed strange to me that a state that was having a big battle over formula bags given away in hospital would have no laws regarding breastfeeding in public.
When we actually went no one batted an eye when I was nursing in public. I even went on one of those walking history tours in Boston Commons and was nursing while walking. Not even a second glance.
