Gift for a knitting momma friend?

Any ideas? I was just out with her and she bought herself a super-cute project bag, so that's out. (I tried to discourage her so I could buy it on the sly, but didn't succeed! )

Yummy yarn would be good, maybe a knitting toys book? She works slowly but is always working on something -- a lot of socks, baby hats and booties.

Any thoughts are appreciated!
thanks,

If you knew of any books she was coveting, I'd get her one of those. Is she into stitch markers? I like my pretties a lot! Maybe a pattern and the yarn to complete it? If she's always knitting for the kiddos, maybe a pattern and yarn for her.

If anyone was going to buy me a yarn gift I would want a ball winder . I told DH that is what I want for my Bday since my SDad is making me a swift.

Have you checked to see if she has an Amazon wish list? I don't tell people about mine (well, I would if they asked if I had one, but I don't advertise it ), and I tend to accumulate a lot of knitting books on there. Maybe she has one, too.

No Amazon wish list, although it was a good idea! What about something for her needles, like this:

Do all knitters have a lot of different needles? I'm so clueless!

Only the lucky ones have lots of different needles! Seriously, most of us do have many needles.

As un-fun as it may be to give, a GC to your LYS (that's Local Yarn Store) might be your best bet in this situation! I know I would LOVE that as a gift!

I like the idea of the toy knitting book. I use mine often. If she knits booties, then she may like small projects like toys. There are also a couple of 'one skein' books out there for small projects. If you don't have a local yarn shop, you could try a gift cert. to Knitpicks.com, they have great yarns at reasonable prices. They also have books, needles, etc.

There is no gift a knitter adores so much as a gift certificate to her loyal yarn store (or http://yarn.com/ or http://www.knitpicks.com/). The recipient can pick out just what she would like. It feels like such a fun luxury to use a gift certificate. And don't worry if the $ amount isn't big -- a $10 gift certificate for knitting is awesome! --Nancy in NC

Okay, okay, you guys have convinced me! A g.c. to the LYS it is. And I even know where it is -- only a few blocks from my friend's house. I'm sure she'll love it.
Thanks!
