Several years ago, my mom's friend was giving away a lot of cloth. Her daughter ran a sewing factory and had given her a lot of scraps. My mom and I were going through the bags and I found a few bags with white scraps that were shaped so much like pads that I had to take them. They were absorbent, as well. I put several layers together and sewed the side and ends but found out that the inner layers bunched up so when I made another batch, I sewed a seam up the center as well. That worked. Of course, if you buy your own cloth you won't have to do what I did. But you could just fold the cloth over a few times and make them that way. I am planning to make some more in case my daughters need them (right now, they use store bought pads/tampons). I was going to follow a pattern a person on a forum I'm on shared. The pattern looks pretty much like she traced around a pad and added wings (but I'm not going to add wings. I guess I'm lazy but I don't want to make a bunch of snaps. Safety pins work just fine - or really tight underwear) - at least for me.
