Corn-free pain relief??

DD has been working on getting tooth #3 out for the past couple weeks, and has been pretty crabby. Usually she's fine with a chilled washcloth or teether, but the past couple days she's been super fussy. I finally caved and decided it was time to pull the shrinkwrap off the baby Tylenol... only to discover that it (and the generic that we also have) has corn syrup and citric acid in it, and the generic baby ibuprofin that we have has citric acid and xanthan gum.

Does anyone know of a good, corn-free (and other top allergen-free) pain relief for babies??

Luckily, DD made it through the night ok and is feeling better today. But I figured I better have a plan in place for next time she needs some pain relief!

I AM SO TIRED OF CORN BEING IN EVERYTHING!!!!! I've been sick for the past couple weeks, and have tried finding things to drink to stay hydrated, and even the sodas that say "no corn syrup" have citric acid.... It's really starting to get on my nerves. : Ok, mini-rant over.

Do the homeopathics have corn? We can use Boiron's camilia and Hyland's teething gel since neither are in a lactose base. You may want to check those out to see if they have any bad ingredients for you.

Hyland's tabs are in a lactose base, and the gel is in a methyl & propyl paraben base. :

Someone else just mentioned the Boirons camilia on another thread, so I was going to check that out. Is that good for general pain relief, or more for just teething? And where do you buy that?

we used to get it at the health food store

Frontier carries it too for way cheaper

Ds2&3 did *not* have problems with it.

Ds2 is the super sensitive one over here, but I can't tell you if he had problems with hylands teething gel--we didn't know about the corn issues until he was 3

I think it is. I use to give it to DD even when she wasn't teething but was having a hard time sleeping due to food induced tummy pains. I think the ingredients are calming and soothing to the whole body and that it can be given in any number of circumstances. I will say that I have found it to be less helpful than the Hyland's gel but it is handy to use in the middle of the night since it comes in individual liquid cap things so you can give it to your LO in the complete dark and not make a mess. Also, we use Herbs for Kids Gum-Omile oil when things get bad too. It has clove oil in it which kind of numbs the gums. However, it is an herb product so perhaps won't work for you guys. If by chance you can do just clove oil you can you put a little of it in another carrier oil and rub it on her gums.

I went through the same thing with my son. The *only* thing I ever found for him was dye-free Advil. However, I'm in Canada, and that could make a difference. As he got older, we found that the Tylenol quick dissolve tablets were okay.
Oh, about the lactose in medication. My brother is a pharmacist, and I've discussed this at length with him... The lactose in medication is considered medical grade, and there is no dairy protein attached to it.
Hope this helps some.

I know how you feel. I am tired of corn being in everything too. It is very hard.

Have you seen the Corn-Free Products list? Here's a link:

Scroll down and there are some pain relievers listed.

I haven't had the try it yet with dd but from what I can tell Fever-All is corn free and it's a suppository so even if there is some corn contamination it shouldn't affect her gut. I found them at walgreens here.

I had to try a few stores tonight, but I finally found the Boirons Camilia! Just gave some to DD, so we'll see how she does tonight. :

dye-free benadryl and dye-free tylenol. At least I've used them in my corn-eczema girl and she's done fine with them. I don't have any at the moment to check ingredients for you though. I don't use it too often.

We haven't used anything after our miserable mistake with Hylands. But I do have dye-free infant Tylenol drops in the house that test as crystal safe for Taslyn, even though it looks like there's corn on the label. FWIW.

What happened with Hylands? I use the Camilia for DS. He calls it his "wa."

Hylands is lactose based and it made my baby scream alot and gave her a full body pin prick rash.

Hi, my son and I have been corn free on and off. We used the Camilia which you said you found and when he hurt his arm (wasn't broken but painful) and the ER suggested Motrin we went home and ordered IBprofin from a compounding pharmacy a friend of mine told me about.
