Divacup??

Thread Starter
Hi,
Im 18 and have been on birth control pills since I was 13......for bad periods....and just recently, a little over a month ago I quit taking them..

I got the diva cup a couple of months ago and have tried to use it. I tried to use it before I started my period and I just couldnt do it. Everytime I got in somewhat in my fingers would slip and tore me......Ive tried to get it in a few times but everytime I would it would slip and repeat the process. So needless to say Im scared of it, but would love to use it.......cause at our house there are 3 girls (me, mom and my twin) and we go through tampons like crazy.......any help with my diva cup??

Have you tried lubricating it with KY Jelly or a similar "personal lubricant"? That might help. I know there are a couple of sites with pictures of different ways to try folding your cup...but since the fold shown in the instructions worked for me, I've never looked at them! I hope someone else here can give you a link.

Good luck! I love my Diva Cup!

Try completely cutting off the stem. That's the only thing that worked for me, with my DivaCup AND my Keeper. Gotta say, I still have some trouble with the DC, more than I ever had with the Keeper, when it comes to getting it to open up once inserted and not leak. Trial and error is helping. But the pain thing went away with cutting the stem off.

Good luck, and keep trying!

THis site helped me with different techniques for inserting it because the one listed with the instructions did not work for me: http://community.livejournal.com/men...ps/453392.html

Definitely check out the LiveJournal community. Look through the different tag categories - there are quite a few tags for teething troubles, virginity, difficulty inserting, etc.

If you can afford it, you might also consider one of the smaller cups, like the Ladycup.
