My 10wk old is waking up around 4am with congestion and can't get back to sleep unless I put her at an angle. I was thinking it could be the pillow I sleep with maybe, its pretty old. Does this sound like a possibility? This is the only time that she is stuffy all day that is why I think it is environmental. If so where have you gotten your pillows from or should I just get regular new ones. I will also look for a new blanket for myself to use as that could be a problem as well. Any help would be great. Thanks

I would suggest wool pillows (just google. you can get organic wool pillows at a ton of places). They are hypo-allergenic and fabulous. You should also wash all your bedding in hot water once a week and put everything else that can't be washed, into a hot dryer for 30 min per week or every other week (i.e. pillows, comforter...). Also make sure your room is not too warm - my DH gets stuffed when it's too warm in our room.

Kiddo here who has allergies..including wool. And in fact while it's often called hypoallergenic it can and does harbor dust mites. Learned that the hard way.
What I would do is get a dust mite proof pillow case (one with a zipper). You can get a new pillow too if you want. But whatever I did I would do some type of dust mite casing. Mattress too. And wash bedding on hot once a week--like pp said.
However at 10 weeks I really doubt it is the pillow. It would take her a while to sensitize to allergens and I really don't think 10 weeks of exposure is enough. Kids that age can just be congested a lot. I'd be more inclined to try to elevate the head of the bed if I could do that safely. Maybe put the top legs on some short stools or sturdy books.

I put a pillow bewtween the crib and the crib mattress to put the bed at an angle. You're really not supposed to have a pillow for a babe that small. My DD was the same way. Also, you could get an air purifier or a vaporizer to put near the bed. Either way though, I thought inhaled allergies weren't until they were older (like 2 years old). Have you tried cutting out dairy? That causes congestion.
