Ketchup Recipe?

DS is a ketchup lover (dips all sorts of veggies in there). But they either come with high-fructose corn syrup or cane sugar, and I won't do the former, and he can't have the latter. They also all have onion in them, which he can't do. Anyone have a homemade recipe? I think I can use honey (at least until the new ALCAT test comes back) as a sweetener, if I need one, and I can use garlic.

I found a bunch of hits by googling "homemade ketchup recipe." I bet honey or molasses would give the ketchup a nice flavor. Can your ds have beet sugar? It's nearly indistinguishable from cane sugar as far as I know.

So far he doesn't have any sweeteners on his "safe" list. I know cane sugar is out, as it was a "moderate intolerance" (ALCAT) so he has to avoid it for 6 months. I'll look for a beet sugar source if he comes back safe for beets. And he can have garlic. I just didn't know if anybody had tried-and-true ones so I wouldn't have to experiment.

Most white sugar in the US is beet sugar unless it's labeled specifically as "cane". I believe the same is true for brown sugar but I'm not certain regarding molasses.
That said, I have one recipe for tomato ketchup without onions. Contains: paprika, cayenne, mustard, peppercorns, allspice, bay leaves, chili peppers, basil... I don't know all of your allergies. So, if you can have all those things, give me a pm and I'll send it to you! Be forewarned, however, that it calls for 7 quarts of tomato puree.
I also have a recipes for apple, gooseberry, grape and cranberry ketchup if anyone wants any of those. The gooseberry and grape ketchups are also onion-free.
I haven't tried any of these recipes though. They're from an old cookbook of mine. So if they're horrible, I'm sorry.

I've made low-carb ketchup with stevia as a sweetener. It was basically tomato paste, stevia, apple cider vinegar, and spices. I think it was onion, garlic, and cloves.

I think you really need to experiment with the spices- any published recipe may be too spicy for your little guy.
