Help me make my first soaker please

I've been stressing about this for two months now, so I think I finally need to just get over myself and cast on for it!

But first, will this yarn be okay for a soaker? (Non ravelry link here)

I was thinking of either doing the Curly Purly pattern or the Wooly Wonder Opinions either way?

From its description, I think that yarn will be fine for a soaker.

As far as which soaker, I've only done the Curly Purly and the LTK Original Soaker, so I can't comment on any others. But I'm partial to the CP soaker. It's quite easy as long as you read the directions carefully and I LOVE the fit of it.

I made my first soaker a few months ago. It's the Fern and Faeries pattern, and was quite easy.

Most soaker knitters say not to use pure wool, to make sure that your wool has some synthetic content for good stretch.

I never use synthetic fibers in my soakers or longies and they stretch great.

I've always heard that synthetic fibres will cause stink issues. You will have to wash your soakers more often.

All my soakers are 100% wool, and we've had no problems.

I've never heard that. Most soaker users only want 100% wool.

You want 100% wool. Some wool is stretchier than others.

G'head. Cast on. Soakers are so fun. They're practically instant gratification, and are so lovely and useful. My favorite soaker pattern is the Ottobre, and for longies and shorties, I love Sheepy Pants. The pattern is only $6, and you will use it again and again. I have not used that wool, but as long as it's soft and not super-wash, it will work. If it's super-soft, one ply merino, it may pill and felt with wear, but if it's for a newborn, it should be perfect.

I just clicked on your second link. Do you have this yarn in hand? The description (for outer wear) makes me think it may not be soft enough for a soaker.
