what are the tenants of this book? is it just that if you eat more good fats you are satisfied and so eat fewer calories?

It seems to be focused on quality fat and going easy on the carbs but not as restrictive as Atkins. I like the theory a lot but none of the recipes have made it into my regular ones. I like the oil blend recommendation, one part each EVOO, CO and sesame oil. I need to get some sesame oil and see how it goes.

Warning though, this book leans heavily in the coconut direction. I believe you eat some coconut at every meal. One of my friends calls it 'the pinacolada diet'...

I'm reading it right now. Enjoying all of the coconut info and recipes since coconut is good for low thyroid and I'm borderline and hoping to fix it naturally.

I started the diet on Tuesday.
Basically, there's four main points: eat three meals a day, never skip breakfast, no snacks. Eat traditional fats. Eat nutrient-dense foods. Limit calories, but not dramatically (2500/day to start, then 2000/day if your weight loss stalls.) For the weight loss diet, it's basically NT stuff, you also limit carbs and essentially no sweeteners except stevia.
It IS very heavy on the coconut, luckily I like coconut. The recipes in the book are good so far. I like the meal plans. I have lost 4 pounds so far.

I found the section on regaining your health especially helpful. Because I deal with adrenal problems (though I didn't know it the first time I read through the book), it was really great info. She addresses how to eat and what's important for your adrenal health. She also lists certain health problems that are linked to adrenal problems. All very interesting to me.

I didn't like that so many of her recipes used coconut the first time I read. But then I got taken off of dairy. Now those recipes seem very appealing as I have gotten more and more used to coconut milk. So now I am really glad!

I have the book and was very excited to try it. I followed the instructions explicitly and gained 10lb the first week. That scared me off of it and I haven't tried again since. However I have kept coconut and CO as a part of my daily diet. I hope others have more success with it than I did.

I have got it and don't follow the plan. I do have the greasy tea (coconut oil in herbal tea) 20 minutes before meals at least once a day, and usually have one of the smoothies listed for breakfast. Seems to work for me - I lost 3.5 lbs last week and I've been a lot less hungry between meals and in the evenings than usual. The coconut chicken soup is delicious as well.
