What to eat for nausea and vomiting? (TMI)

4:30AM and I cant sleep. I was feeling sightly nauseated so I couldn't get to sleep until 1:30. Woke up an hour later vomiting (just made it to the bathroom). Went back to bed to wake up a hour later dry heaving. Back to sleep and woke up dry heaving again. This time I stayed up, made some needle tea and end up throwing that up.

I'm not sure why I'm sick, but I need to keep some fluids down. Its been a few hours and I already feel dehydrated. Is there something I can take/drink for this? Kombucha?

(Keep in mind I'm intolerant to gluten and most grains, and cant eat sugars)

TIA

Grate some fresh ginger, pour boiling water over it, drink? It tastes pretty good. Ginger is supposedly stomach-calming, but if you have a virus it might not be a match for that.

when I was preg with hyperemesis I took half a unisom (diphenhydramine hcl) to get rid of n/v.

Do you have food poisoning? Make some chicken bouillon and sip it slowly, or chicken noodle soup broth.

Ill try the ginger! Since my last post, I haven't slept and have kept dry heaving all-night. I am also dizzy (when I turn my head) and even smells are making me vomit. Uggh. This is one heck of a bug!

Rebecca, I don't know if its food poising or not. I had it before and it actually felt worse than this (on a whole body level, not just stomach)
I actually feel fine other than my stomach.

That is the same flu our whole family had a couple weeks ago DD2 would want to nurse but she'd barely get my nipple in her mouth when she'd gag and vomit again

Sipping kombucha slowly helped both me and my DH feel better. When we felt like something more "solid" I used some chicken broth and rice with a little bit of garlic and ginger. Eventually I was able to eat bananas and yogurt (trying to feed the good bacteria in my gut).

Hope you feel better soon

When I'm like that the only thing that helps me is ginger. I keep candied ginger on hand at all times (in my purse), but it does have sugar in it. Ginger tea works pretty well, and even pickled ginger (sushi ginger) will work.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Thanks for the suggestions.

I am doing better today. Sunday, I couldn't keep liquids down until the mid afternoon. Went to work and just had my first light meal since Saturday this evening. Other than that, its just fluids. Smells still bother me though - I hope that lets up.

I'm glad you're doing a bit better.

One trick I've learned with morning sickness is when I feel dry heaves coming on, drink water. Vomiting water is a lot easier than dry heaving.

Of course this doesn't work in every situation, but it made 5 months worth of mornings easier for me.
