we use animal parade (cherry flavored) you have to get it in a heath food store. but you can use baking soda even.

but are you sure it's his teeth? my DS has very bad breath when his tonsils are swollen. have ya looked in there?

Trader Joes makes one...I forgot the actual flavor, but it's flouride free, natural, and tastes more like anise or licorice--not minty or stingy at all. The box has purple writing...something something and Myrrh

Sorry I can't be more help, but I'm not at home right now, so I can't check

Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry! It's the ONLY thing my ds will brush with.

(You can buy it online and have it shipped to you.)

thanks i´ll look into that.

anyway, can´t it be from his stomach?

There can be a lot of sources of bad breath - I would definitely investigate further to figure out the cause because that's not normal IMO, even for a child with poor dental hygiene. A great toothpaste is Spry Infant Tooth Gel - it's a clear, sweet, flavourless gel with few ingredients .

yeah..i´ve always thought, if it´s not from you teeth...it´s gotta be from down under! maybe bad digestion?

thanks for the toothpaste help!

I agree that the breath issues probably aren't related to his teeth. I've heard kids don't really even need toothpaste, it's mainly the brushing that is cleaning. You could try getting some xylitol and dissolving it in water and having him brush with that.

But I would think the bad breath might be related to reflux, allergies, sinuses, or something else.

he loves toothpaste now, natural, normal, anything...which is very good. and loves brushing his teeth, and his bad breath has gotten a litle better...a little.

where can i get xylitol?
thanks!

My ds loves to eat fresh garlic and onions, but thankfully he loves to eat fresh parsley too. Parsley is such a great breath freshner. We have the flat leaf which is usually not as strong as the curly.

Everything we eat or drink causes our bodies to react in kind to ph disturbances; go to www.zellies.com and really research the site especially the FAQ. Xylitol normalizes the ph first in the mouth and also in the body.

Work up to 6 to 12 grams per day, but give him Xylitol. That will kill the bad breath, protect is teeth AND his bones.

brushing with cinnamon can help bad breath

Just wanted to mention that bad breath is a sign of poor gut health, and not because the teeth are not getting cleaned properly.
Hubby and I no longer have bad breath, even right when we wake up, since we switched to a TF way of eating and healed our insides.

This is what I was going to suggest. My 3yo loves it!

I totally agree with the connection between bad breath and poor gut health.

You might try before or after he brushes, wet down a washcloth and wipe his whole mouth out with it. Does he know how to swish and spit yet? My daughter is still having trouble with that and sometimes she gets a little funky too, in spite of our frequent brushing. I think sometimes you just have to get in there and get all the crud out.
