I got some MM windbloc fleece and I was wondering which side is usually used facing out fot AIO diapers & covers? Has anyone used this? One side has a rubbery feel that is breathable yet appears totally waterproof and the other side has a chamios fleece feel.

Hi,

I just got some Windpro to make some covers with.. I'm pretty sure you put the rubbery side towards the outside. Happy sewing!

With the 300wt MM fleece I bought, the fabric selvages curled toward the right side.

: I just saw that someone else in the yahoo diaper sewing group recommended that the rubbery side goes to the inside, so now I don't know what to think!!! I guess I'll research it more and see what I can come up with! Unless someone here already knows the answer??

There isn't a right answer, it all depends on what you think is pretty Like mamapup said, the selvage will curl to the right side when you stretch it, but since Windbloc was designed for outerwear to keep wind and rain off of you, it doesn't really matter in a diaper. It will work as well either way.

That said, I think most people like the look of the smooth side out

I have been experimenting with lightweight Windpro to make some AIOs... I made one and it is cute, fits well... and leaks like a sieve! I'm so disappointed! I thought maybe the soaker part wasn't thick enough so I added yet another prefold to test it. It soaked through in just over an hour. Not wicked out - soaked through! The diaper part wasn't even saturated or anything so the problem wasn't too much wetness, I'm pretty sure. So I'm wondering if anyone has had success with the lightweight windpro, how they achieved it, and if not, then what's the point of using windpro if you have to use two layers? :

I have not used windpro, but I have used 200 wt. and I have heard comments from others who have used windpro. From what I hear, you have to use 2 layers if you are using the lightweight. There is also midweight and heavyweight windpro. Again, I have no experience with this material, but I have some on the way, so I will let you know what works for me. I think, also, that if the fabric does not have DWR on it (some do and some don't) that you will need to add some type of waterproofing agent to it. You can wash it in Nikwax or even just spray it with Silicone Water-Gaurd (I found this in the sporting goods section of Walmart.) I have used both methods with my 200 wt. fleece and they have been effective. Good luck!
