Would you get rid of a PBDE futon?

I am really stressed out about my cotton/foam futon which is laden with PBDE. It's about 3 years old and in a good condition. I want to replace it with an organic one but it seems like a waste to toss a perfectly fine futon.
My hubby thinks I'm crazy.

I've been feeling the same about ALL of our mattresses (4 of them). If it's in good shape you could donate it?

When did they stop using PBDE? What kind of chemicals do conventional mattresses use now?

If we could afford to get rid of our mattresses and pillows we would. We're thankful we never bought all the l.r. furniture we were going to buy and instead have a used Ikea couch.

looking forward to hearing an answer on your question.
