Fabric in local stores?

In your experience, do any stores like Michael's, JoAnn, Wal-Mart, etc. sell the kind of fabric for diaper-making (e.g. PUL, microfleece, birdseye, etc.)?

Or will I have to buy it online?

I haven't made any diapers yet, but I haven't seen any of these fabrics at Joann's or the like. I have seen "diaper flannel" at walmart, but not at Joann.

Joann carries diaper flannel but someone always seems to buy the last of it every time I go in so I end up ordering it, but they can order it for you if they don't have it in stock. They don't carry PUL though they *may* be able to order microfleece or birdseye for you. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

I have found some of the best microfleece I've used at Jo-Ann's. It is still soft after LOTS of washings, better than the microfleece in my one purchased Fuzzi Bunz cover.

You can find flannel anywhere. It's super cheap at Wal-mart. Just know that the fuzziness and thickness can vary, but for inner layers when you just need absorbency, anything works. (My brother's recycled Ralph Lauren flannel shirt has been the best! If only Ralph knew what his shirt was being used for now.)

PUL can't be found locally, so I order mine. You can sometimes find alternatives such as Ultrex used for camping and sportswear.
