Should I be seeing an improvement?

Hello ladies,
I posted a week ago about my 2 mo old having blood and mucous in his diaper. So for week and a half I've been off dairy and soy and off eggs for a week. The only source of dairy is my probiotics (3 pills a day), till i get my dairy-free ones. I havent seen any improvement in his diaper yet and I wonder if it is too early to see improvement or if I should be looking into cutting off something else from my diet?

Any help, ideas... will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Borislava

IME, poop takes the longest to resolve, BUT I would expect you to see SOME improvement after 1 1/2 wks. Definitely get another probiotic, because that could be what's keeping your lo from healing. Also, you might consider eliminating the other top allergens as well to see if you can identify any other foods that might be causing this. Does he have any skin reactions?

Thanks!
He only has one little spot of eczema - the size of a penny - on his arm which showed up 5 days ago. It gets better when I put some Eucerine on it. I am not sure if it is something that I should worry about.....

If it's showed up since you started eliminating, my guess is that you're eating more of some food that could be an trigger for your baby, too. The other top allergens are wheat, fish, shellfish, nuts, and nuts. Though, another very common and growing allergen is corn, so that's another thing to consider. Corn is in more things than you probably think, too http://www.cornallergens.com/list/co...ergen-list.php

The minute amount of dairy in the probiotic I gave my son "may contain traces of milk protein" was enough to make him wet the bed. He went off dairy because of bedwetting, and has only had one incident in the last year and a half, when I was trialing milk to see if he'd outgrown it yet. So if your DS is sensitive enough, and dairy is the culprit, then the probiotics could be doing it. Just one capsule was enough to cause a reaction in my son.

I would take out the probiotic and see if that made a difference before I started taking out more foods, on the chance that may be the culprit.

I agree with PP- if you are still taking a dairy-derived probiotic, then you still have dairy in your diet. You will not see improvments (most likely) until you cut out dairy completely.

Thank you ladies!
I guess I will stop the probiotics until the dairy-free ones arrive in the mail and hopefully this will make things better as I am really not looking forward to starving myself

Just wanted to let you know that it took a few months for my DD's poop to get better. I don't think it's standard to take that long but she didn't have any skin issues that I could assess getting better quickly and it just took a long time for her to heal up and have non-mucous poop again. So...keep at it! And....don't take any more of those probiotics. Just wait until the new ones arrive.

That sounds like wheat to me... If you don't see an improvement by two weeks, you might have to take all sources of gluten (even may contain, and made in the same factory, etc) out of your diet. Wheat takes the longest to get rid of. Like up to 3 months to be completely out of your system? So you'll see improvement in about 3 weeks or sooner for that one, then maybe some flare-ups for up to 3 months.

There will be withdrawal symptoms (ie crying, or things getting worse before they get better) lasting usually 4-5 days when you're on the right track!

Good luck!
