Anyone tried Charlie's powder in dishwasher?

I recently got an email from them saying that their powder is a great alternative. I'm thinking about trying it. Does it work well, or will I be disappointed? I'm currently using Cascade tablets.

I emailed them asking about the liquid detergent. They said they hadn't used it for that before, but it would probably work just as well as any other, but they would reccomend using the all purpose cleaner for that purpose.

I haven't tried it yet, If DH gives up on my homemade dishwashing powder I think we will give it a whirl,

Hey, I'd like to know too! I'll keep an eye on this thread in case anyone tries it out.

I just read the website again and it said that the laundry powder has been reported to work well in automatic dishwashers. It did say that it works best in soft water and the softer the better. We have softened water, so I'm going to order it and give it a try. I'll let you know what I think.

Well...I have 2 things to add.

1. I went back and re-read that email from Charlies. I was asking about using the liquid detergent in a steam vac not dishwasher...my bad

2. We did try the liquid detergent in the dishwasher and it didn't work very well at all. Now we know...

So no Charlie's liquid in the dishwasher.

Has anyone tried the powder yet?

I just got the shipment of powder yesterday. I have 3 or 4 more loads before I will switch over to Charlie's. I'll let you know what I think once we switch.

I have now done 3 loads in the dishwasher with the Charlie's. I started doing a full scoop of the powder. That was way too much because I had soap suds on the floor. I went down to half a scoop and that seems to be right. We do have REALLY soft water.

The dishes seem to come out pretty clean. I normally don't rinse anything off before I put things in the dishwasher. I have found that I do need to rinse when I use Charlie's. I have had one item out of every load that didn't get clean enough. Twice it's been a knife with peanut butter left on it.

I am going to stick with the Charlie's rather than switch back to Cascade tabs. Charlie's isn't perfect, but I feel much better about using it.
