You know, the little thing on the turkey that pops out when it's done? With my ds, my water broke in the middle of the night at 37 weeks. Hard contractions immediately followed and I had no question I was in labor. I wasn't expecting to have him that soon and hadn't been thinking about it much, so I didn't go through a "baby get out" or "let's get on with this" stage.
Now, I'll be 39wks tomorrow and have been having really intense bhx. They wake me up at night. I lay in bed feeling crampy with an achey back and think, "Is this it?" How will I know? I don't expect for things to start with my water breaking again. I have absolutely no signs of pending labor -- can't even reach my cervix, mucous plug is still there...
I'd like a little fortune cookie, a message from a little bird... something to give me a clue about when it might happen and how I'll know it's real.
Just a little impatient today...

however, mine would be a very unreliable timer, since my belly button just gets flatter and flatter, and never actually pops out.
