I don't know if any of you have tried this, but it might be worth asking about - I was doing my lurpon shots in my upper thigh. That's where I was told to do them. Could give you some extra options

I am going to call my IVF nurse tomorrow and ask her if I can go a little further out from the 1" around my belly button. and I'll ask about the thigh. I heard the thigh hurts more.

My clinic recommends Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. Their prices are reasonable and they are always on top of your scripts. Also if you have to go through additional cycles they offer further discount pricing. I have a couple of friends who were thoroughly pleased with Freedom Fertility Pharmacy. They have a website "www.freedomfertility.com". There is a link to their cash prices.

I was fortunate because my husbands insurance covers our IVF and all of my meds, but I had to go through his insurance, Aetna's fertility pharmacy. I would have preferred Freedom. Hope this helps.

We had 5 day embryo transfer on 7/7 and this wait is killing me. I broke down and bought EPT today, but can't bring myself to use it because I feel like I would be jinxing myself. My husband isn't sure if he wants me to take it. I can't believe I bought this stupid thing. I am scheduled for pregnancy test with my dr on 7/21.

I really didn't have any problems with the thigh hurting (only used it for the lupron). I bruised once but that was because when I let go of the pinch I didn't hold the needle in and it came out so I had to stick myself again. Other than that, it was pretty pain free.

RE: Freedom - I got my meds through them and was really pleased with their customer service. My biggest gripe was when it was delivered I wasn't at my office and had left a note for the FedEx guy to leave it at the office down the hall. Apparently they couldn't do that because Freedom required a signature from me. I've heard from other people that their receptionist signed for it with no problem, so it's hard to say. Maybe it just needs to be somebody at the delivery address.

The other thing I would double check - if your insurance is paying anything towards meds, get a quote on the meds before you order. For some reason Freedom charged me the 90 day mail order supply co-pay which is twice what it should've been, because I didn't get a 90 day supply. I'm in the process of sorting it out with my insurance, but if I hadn't called for a price quote first, I never would've known I was overcharged.

Hi All,

Thought I'd give a quick update. Had my retrieval on Friday. It goes from good to bad news. They were able to retrieve 11 eggs. Of the 11 eggs, only 3 were mature enough to fertilize. Of the 3, only 2 actually fertilized. Not good quality eggs either.

Going in for the transfer tomorrow...hoping for the best, as always...but losing hope at the same time...

Sounds like a good idea to call. At least it can't hurt. I was one who said the thigh hurts more. However, now that I've done both, I'd have to say they're similar. It just really hurts when there aren't any new injection sites so you're using the same bruised or red area that was used a couple of days ago. The lupron and follistim really weren't bad, except when I bruised from a poor shot. It is the repronex that was hard, If you take than, make sure you space out the injection sites since I found they did create a large red welt, which is supposedly common.

hope4light - I hope the 2ww goes by quickly for you and those ovaries continue to ache for a while. Oddly, I don't feel too much sensatin in my ovaries, besides the general bloating and tenderness.

Tomorrow is the ER! : I just had my last meal before the procedure : and everything is ready. I'm really hoping they get several good quality eggs.

Kat's mommy - hang in there... mine didn't seem like they were doing all that well until the day of transfer, which then they were saying they were beautiful 8 cells! (3 day transfer). I talked to the embryologist just alittle bit ago and she said that two more will make it to freeze that are beautiful, but she's going to freeze them tomorrow.... so you never know. Hang in there, you're in my thoughts and prayers to those embies growing and dividing as they should!

ER is done. They got 13 eggs. I found out that they don't five fetilization reports, persay, but will just let me know if fertilization occurred tomorrow. Then ET will be anywhere from day 2 to day 6.

I must say that I am quite upset at the ER adn the care I received. Apparently they had trouble retrieving the eggs (according to the anasthesiologist, who apparently wasn't supposed to let us know) :. I woke up in a bit of pain and it took longer than expected for the anasthesia to wear off. However, they seemed to rush me out of that office and hurry me on home, where I promptly threw up. I think I was interfering with their lunch hour.

On the positive side, my dh has been wonderful. He set me up with everything I need in bed and even game me a little bell to ring if I needed him. Please pray I feel better by tomorrow since I'm home along with my dd all day and really need some energy to deal with her. I think we'll be doing lots of tv watching.

Keeping my eyes on the prize...

Hope4-Light, that is inspriational to see how the quality can improve as time goes on, since I always assumed it was the other way. Take care. :

Kat's Mommy ~ I will definitely be praying for you! My RE says that sometimes even the not so good embryos do better than sometimes the higher grade embryos once they are in the uterus. Just stay positive!

Welcome! The wait is so hard, hope you are finding ways to cope! I didn't test until my beta last time, for me I think it's better that way, but some women feel better to get some answers earlier (even though they might be inaccurate answers!!) Good luck to you and welcome aboard

They RUSHED you? WTH? I am so sorry that happened. But on the upside, 13 eggs is pretty good. My clinic doesn't do a general anesthetic for ER, it sucked but at least I didn't have to recover from anesthetic on top of everything. As well as a local, they gave me an Adavan and someone suggested that next time I ask for two I had an okay time with it last time, hopefully it's the same.... since that's coming up pretty soon for me!

Sounds like your dh is a good one, good luck with your dd tomorrow. I hereby give you permission to let her watch TV and eat junk all day long if that's what it takes to keep you on the couch! (you can tell I have my plan in place for my 2 year old!)

Me: I am on day 7 of stims and Crazy Times Are Here Again. I am irritable and weepy and bloated. Still drinking my prune juice though! I had bw today and they said that my estrodial (sp?) is at just the right level so they aren't changing my meds, back for bw and first u/s on Thursday...

Julia's mom - I can't believe that they rushed you out of there like that! You would think given the circumstances they would let you rest there until you were ready to go... as it should be!!! Any news on how everything is going?

CRM - I can't believe that you're getting your first u/s on day 9 of stims! They must be really confident in how you will react... but I guess if the b/w is coming back good, they know what they're doing... GL on the b/w and u/s in a couple of days.... hope that all goes well and you'll have ER soon!

I started spotting today so bummed. I am going to continue my progesterone until the beta and dr appt on 7/21, but not feeling very optimistic now. This is my 1st IVF.

I pray it means nothing and you still get that positive on the 21st. Did you ever decide about testing early?

CrazyRunningMama - Yes, we had a LOT of tv today, but overall it went well and we did get out a little. I'm feeling much better, though still quite sore. Sorry the stims are making you so emotional. I guess I was lucky in that scenario as they didn't affect me much.

So, I got the call this morning to inform me that fertilization occurred. : They don't give fertilization reports and numbers because my RE is insistent that the mind games are not good for you. Although, she did say we would probably have a day 5 or day 6 transfer. I'm taking that to mean that we have a lot of fertilized eggs and they look good. : I think I'll request all the numbers after the cycle is complete, either just out of curiosity or to help us improve and perhaps make changes the next time around (which hopefully won't be needed).

Thanks Julia'sMom! I did take it last night it was negative, but I didn't think anything of it because it's so early (ER on 7/7). I am still going to wait for beta, but the cramps are getting pretty bad. I can't even sleep.

Is that weird? My protocol is 10 to 12 days of stims, I don't know if they do it that way for everyone or ? I have done IVF before and responded well, so they are doing the same protocol as last time. So actually I thought I'd have u/s's earlier (I remember feeling like I LIVED at the clinic last time we did this!). Thanks for the good wishes!
