How long do I have to do something with my placenta?

DD was born 6/13. It has been in the fridge. I am trying to get my hands on a dehydrator. Should I freeze it until then? I don't want it to go bad or anything!

I would freeze it if I were you. We still have DDs in the freezer from 2 years ago lol.

You can dehydrate it in your oven--I think within 24-48 hours is best, otherwise you should freeze it.

I'd love more info on this. Do you have a link? I want to encapsulate it.

My doula dehydrated mine in her oven at 200 or 250 degrees over night...

Here is a link I found through google:

Hope that helps!

Check out this site. I haven't read enough to see if it says how much time your have, but it seems pretty informative.

ETA: It says the baby was born a week ago before they started the process.

Awesome link! Thanks! I will try to do it tonight!

We dehydrated mine in the oven at 200-250 degrees. I know women who have thawed frozen placentas (3-4 years old even) and dried them in an oven.

If you don't want to do it now, then put it in the freezer, but I advise doing something with it now. Your body needs those nutrients.

We froze our DD's for nearly 1 year, then defrosted and planted it underneath "Her Tree" in the backyard. It's growing extremely well: strong, lots of leaves!

I dehydrated it and blended it, I just need to put it in capsules. I really need to get on it, because I think it would really help my mood.

It will help your mood, I know it will. That is what the placenta is for after nourishing the baby, nourishing the mama!

I had pretty intense ppd with my older two children. I had not even a drop of it with my third. I did have some emotional swings after my third child's birth, but nothing even within the realm of ppd. More of just crying at sad books/movies then laughing about crying. (A cleansing sort of cry really.)
