First of all, congratulations to all the June mamas who have had their babies that I've haven't gotten to congratulate.
Our daughter, Alyn Rose, was born at 9:27pm on June 11th after a very short, unexpected labor. She weighed 7lbs 3.2oz and was 21.5 inches long.
There isn't much to tell for a birth story, it was over before I knew it. Wed AM I had a non-stress test scheduled since I was past my due date. I was induced with my first DD so everyone, including my doctors, expected the same this time.
20 min before my appointment I started bleeding - not just a little, but a lot. The Drs decided to admit me right away (no stress test) to see what was going on, worrying that my placenta was detaching. I was only 1.5cm. This was at 9am in the morning.
The bleeding slowed and the baby was doing fine. I was having some contractions but was still only 2.5cm. At 11am they put in some gel, at 3:00pm they did some more and by 4pm I was in some pain and felt like I was losing control. I wanted to ask for pain meds, but felt like a wuss since I figured I was only 4cm or so.
I couldn't stand it any more at 6pm and the doc checked and I was 7cm and my water broke during the exam. That really upped the pain factor so I asked for an epidural - best decision I ever made - and labored pain free for another 3 hours or so. Around 9:15 the epidural seemed to be wearing off and when the Dr checked I was fully dilated and the baby was really low. After only 6 pushes Alyn Rose was born at 9:27.
I had a small tear caused by her reaching her arm out while she was being born, but only 2 stitches. My recovery has been incredible and Alyn is nursing like a champ - our only problem has been she hates wet diapers.
After a horrible experience with my first daughter, I could not be more pleased with this one. I truly feel that my DH and I are blessed to have had such an amazing experience.
Sending good thoughts to those still waiting for their DC for wonderful labors like mine.
