Anybody planning on going to the park tomorrow? We'll be there (ya know, barring any random emergencies, fevers, sleepness nights, etc.) early! I talked to Sarahla yesterday and I think she's planning on going in the morning, too.

That sounds fun! I SO need to go to the Loft kids movies. I've been working every morning. But I'll aim to go tomorrow after the park, even though I think C will only manage to sit still in the theatre for 10 minutes or so.

Have you gone to others movies this week? do they have events before? like, is it worth going before 10? my step-mom is the executive director there, and she suggested we get there at 9:30, but I'm not sure why. is there stuff going on?

We won't be able to get to the park til 10:30 or so as it's the last day of swim lessons for the kids...don't know if any of y'all will still be there or not. Yes it will be hot, though it's hot by 8, and just about as hot inside as outside in the shade I've noticed lately.

we are still working on only using one car.... so if I go to the park, I have to get up at 6 am to take jared to work. I was pretty gung ho about it for a week.... but we havent taken him in almost two weeks.

if I go to the park it will be at 730ish... and then I have to leave at around 11/1130 to get jared for lunch so I guess we could maybe do the movie at the loft? and then I may take the kids to the international wildlife museum for the afternoon.

soooo.... if i am able to get out of bed- we will be there... if, like today, we sleep in past 9- I will think of you all from my chilly a/c house

All last week Micah had a fever off and on and I just attributed it to teething. But last night around dinner time Noah developed a strong fever, went to bed and slept hard. This morning he was cool again, but it has popped up again for a couple hours before subsiding again. So I guess there is some fever sickness going around. I wonder if it could be valley fever...

So we will have to skip the park again as well!

Sarahla, props to you for experiencing the true weather. I think it is best for the spirit to be connected with the heat. I feel like we live in a space capsule with our air conditioning.

Gianna too came down with a fever on Monday night. She had it through last night but seems okay today. We were out of town over the weekend and I think I let her way over do it and her immune system had a little meltdown. If she continues to be fine today/tonight then I'll plan on the park around 8:30 or 9:00. Otherwise I'll think of you all from my warm swamp cooled house.

we watched our neighbours' house/dogs last weekend and they only have a cooler. We hung out there every morning and night to keep the dogs company and I kept saying "i cannot believe how disconnected i am to the weather here"

In michigan it was fully normal to not have a/c... and there arent any other options there.... so its 90 and insanely humid and you have no choice but to feel every second of it.

but here we hibernate all day and go out at 7 at night.

Back when we had swamp, we used to go for walks every night. Now that we have a/c we often say, "It's too humid..." I love having a/c, but I do miss our nightly walks. We still walk, just not as often.

If others are going, we will be at the park at 8ish. I have to open the store at 11 as our employee had to change his schedule and can't come in Thursdays anymore. Geez! I've missed so much conversation on here since my i-nlaws were in town. Funny enough, they dragged us to the Wildlife Museum and then I get on here and you guys were discussing it! The first time I went when I was a kid, I felt sick and just dragged my feet the whole time behind my family. Now, I don't know. It's still weird but I feel at least these magnificent creatures are out where people can enjoy and learn about them instead of stuck in someone's basement. I don't think they still add to it as it looks exactly the same as it did when I was a kid. I believe it's a non-profit too. They also had a couple of exhibits talking about the consequences of over-hunting a certain species. Alina totally didn't care that it was dead animals. I don't know if she just didn't quite comprehend the fact or if raising her in a reptile store has just warped her sense of reality surrounding life and death.

Cloth Diaper Issues:

So we're doing part-time cloth diapering - when we're at home she's in cloth, when we're out she's in sposies. We're having some issues. I got prefolds and some covers. I ordered the prefold size recommended for her weight but they seem huge, I have to fold them down about 6 inches so they don't come up to her neck. It seems to bother her how bulky they are and she cries when I put them on and tries to pull them off several times a day. I bought Bummis covers and a couple of the pull up kind. The Bummis give her a rash along the top and just today she's got a rash all over her front and along her hips (looks like a heat rash?). I change her more often in the cloth than I do in disposables so it isn't like she's sitting around in a wet diaper. So, would you go for a wool cover instead? Seems hot but at least it would breath. Maybe I could have the prefolds shortened so they're not so bulky? Any other suggestions?

We use wool covers over training pants and my kids have never gotten a rash.

I've seen others with this issue. You could be at the beginning of a cloth diaper vortex; it's easy to get sucked in! I've seen people spend hundreds of dollars in an attempt to find the perfect cloth diaper. Same thing with yarn to knit the perfect shorties. Here's some horrible advice... just forego the cloth all the way and stay with the sposies since that's what she's used to and they don't give her a rash. But if you're determined to go cloth, you just have to keep trying different ones 'til you find the ones you like. Everybody else who already found the right diaper for them will tell you theirs is best. The most basic is medium prefolds and medium prowraps, imo. Or maybe soakers instead of prowraps for the most breathability.

Becca, do you have any snappies? If you do, you could use one to keep her cloth on, but forgo the cover when you're at home and stuff, that might help breathability.

Does G usually have sensitive skin? we have organic cotton diapers for Carter... I can bring an extra and you could try that on her, see if it helps the rash? though if it did, then you'd be sucked into spending more $$...

My mom used cloth on my older brother, but then switched to sposies for me because she said she could not stop my rash in cloth. Rob likes to make fun of me for it and call me "synthetic girl."

And it does sound like G is used to her diapers! Whenever we forget to wash dipes in time and C wears a disposable diaper he thinks it is AWESOME. i think he likes the way it crinkles. He's always hesitant to get it taken off!

i really do not see us getting up in time to get to the park!

im wide awake at 11pm... and k just fell asleep. PLus this weekend is our 5 year wedding anniversary and a harvest festival we are celebrating by heading to willcox... so I am kinda wanting to stay in and craft with keira, get the house clean, do some laundry, yadda yadda...

Becca- I had a horrible time with any covers that were not fleece or wool. I also had to use fitteds on keira, she hated the bulkyness of prefolds. I got most of them used in the trading post here and on diaper swappers. I tried one at a time, to see the best fit. I do have some suggestions on trim ones if you go that route- lmk.. you could even borrow a couple to try?

Congrats on your anniversary! Is there a specific event you're going to in Wilcox? I've been meaning to head down there... I went there all the time with my dad when i was a kid.

You were wide awake at 11 and I'm wide awake at 4 am! Work anxiety. Who knew that working 8 hrs/week could take over your life?!?!
